The Dude
djnick as good as it sounds, I don't have that kind of cash right now. I thank you for your opinion I will maybe look into them when I do a complete home theater. But I also do think that some of my problem lies in my room since the wall the sub is on opens to a stair way to one side and the rest of the room is open to the kitchen on the other. duder Maybe I will post some pic of my room so you all can get a Idea. CECAA850
Duder, the problem you are experiencing is from too small of a sub in too large of a room........period. It's being overdriven, that's why you are hearing a lot of unwanted port noise. The size of the room and the fact that its open are only making matters worse. No need to post a pic. If you can let me know if you are going to use your sub predominately for HT, or music, whether or not you'd tackle a DIY project, and a budget, I might be able to nudge you in the right direction. djnick
With movies, the MKVI practically made my chair jump off the floor. Both of the movies shown below benefit from a sub that can play deep, but with In the Electric Mist, which takes place in New Orleans, there was a thunderstorm in the distance, which presents very low frequencies. It sounded so real, it took me back to my graduate school days when I lived in that city. There is no place like the deep south for thunder and lightning. thats real sub

CECAA850
it took me back to my graduate school days . That quote was actually a cut and paste from the linked article. I originally had the same thoughts as you.
CECAA850
Duder, take a look at THIS. It's light years ahead of what you have now and in your price range.
Pete H
Duder, take a look at THIS. It's light years ahead of what you have now and in your price range.Based on some of the wild stuff you've done, I'm sure you are pointing him in the right direction. What's the deal on that sub, I've never heard of them before, which means nothing, just curious.
CECAA850
eD started out just making drivers then statred building enclosures to go with them. They are just about the bang for your buck kings when it comes to assembled subwoofers. They make a ported dual 18" monster for HT that puts out unbelieveable ammounts of LFE.
