calboy
All Klipsch drivers with 1978 date codes. Speaker serial numbers are GO1079 and GO1080. I can not find any info on these or find any manufacturers that used Klipsch drivers with this style of enclosure.
russ69
Wow, very interesting. I'm not sure this looks like anything that would be a prototype. My guess would be that they would use a production crossover and just change some values. They look more like homemade to me. Thanx, Russ
JL Sargent
Short horn bass design with a cool porting scheme.

calboy
I hope to find out this weekend. I will let you know.
seti
The crossovers don't appear to be what klipsch would have had on hand. They do look home made and very interesting. Obviously made by a klipsch fan. Very cool.
Ironsave
Not sure what other Klipsch gear you may have, but I would be interested to hear a comparison to the other speakers you may have heard or owned.... Cheers.
greg928gts
Do they have Klipsch stickers? Any other Klipsch markings other than the drivers? A picture of the serial numbers would be great. Interesting design. Greg
greg928gts
They look like the speaker "bearhifi" has in his avatar. Greg
carbon summit
All Klipsch drivers with 1978 date codes. Speaker serial numbers are GO1079 and GO1080. I can not find any info on these or find any manufacturers that used Klipsch drivers with this style of enclosure. Could you post a picture of the serial numbers? Are they on Klipsch like paper tags or die stamped in the wood? Weird that the numbers are so high (1070 and 1080) for prototypes. Weird that someone made DIY speakers and would put such high numbers on too.
seti
They were obviously made by a very skilled craftsman.
calboy
The speakers had paper tags stapled to the backs of each cabinet. The tags are gone but the owner that had them 10 years ago thinks he has pictures of the tags. He is looking but I think if he finds them they may be from a different model of Klipsch that the builder took the drivers out of. All I can do is hope he finds them and they are a real Klipsch tags with a Klipsch model name we have not seen before.

russ69
Wow that is so cool. Quite interesting, low production speaker, I guessed that it was homemade so I'm wrong. They are keepers.
RSP
These speakers were made by Beta Sound, Inc., Dallas Tx, the componets are the electrovoice T-35 tweeter, the Atlas PD5 mid driver with a Beta Sound horn and the base was a 12 inch wolfer made to Beta Sound specs. The creossover was 6 DB per octive 3 way crossover using capasiter and coils designed and made for Beta Sount, Inc. The company made speakers for 10 plus years up until 1980s or so when it was closed down as it was getting harder to compete with the forign companies. The pricipal of the business was to build products that would and could compete with the Klipsch line in alternet stores across the country which worked out very well for the 10 yrs that the company was in business. The cabnets and horns were disigned by Beta Sound, Inc in the early 1970s and were patented in 1977,
