Hello from a "new" guy!!!

I can't lie, and it saddens me to admit that I ACTUALLY forgot about this place until several weeks ago.[:$] I used to work for a small custom home theater retailer back in my college days (read: Klipsch, B&W, Denon, Sony ES, Salamander, Panamax, etc etc) and as life would have it, other priorities took the place of my A/V obsession. I did, however, manage to pick up everything I wanted then via factory direct and from private owner and, amazingly enough, had the brain matter to hold onto it all(one of the smarter decisions in my life).

Beyond my incessant rambling above, I thought I'd just say that this forum has brought me hours of enjoyment over the years (much to her dismay -honey-do list[:)] ) and thought I'd start by sharing a shot of my system which sat quietly in the mancave for a long time before I found my renewed sense of addiction as of late. [:D] Thanks for all the good info!!!

RF5, RC7, RS3, RSW12, Denon AVR3805 - and a nice old set of KG 1.5's I have no idea what I'm going to do with yet.

EDIT: I forgot to include my question...oops! I noticed recently that my RC7 had a different tone to it and when standing in front of it I notice that the left and right drivers are pushing different frequencies now....volume is equal on both sides, but very different in tone and frequency. As I said, I've been out of the mix for a long time, and no, I haven't popped the drivers to check all connections but would it be a stretch to assume that its a X-over issue??? These speakers have been well cared for and it just seemed odd to me that this problem surfaced out of the blue recently. Thanx for any input!!

Welcome back!

On the side... I notice that switchplate cover in the background. I have an audiophile cover plate.... it will make your system bloom and image like CRAZY. I'll be happy to let you have it for a mere $35,148.93 plus $25.48 shipping

Your speaker is working correctly. Taken from Klipsch technical info on the RC-7:

"The RC-7 center channel features Klipsch's version of 2.5-way crossover
technology, called tapered-array. With tapered-array, the two
Cerametallic™ woofers work together to deliver high impact bass with one
driver transitioning out at the mid-range frequencies. This provides
more consistent coverage across the listening field, less tonal error
and improved dialogue intelligibility."

Ty Wuz! for pointing me to the old lit. Probably should have done some more reading before posting eh? [:$] Amazing what you miss/forget when life forces you to shift gears ain't it????

All the years I've had this setup, I just never noticed the "problem" until last week. It seems to me that the difference is more noticable when watching movies...as opposed to 5ch stereo for example......which makes sense I suppose with the center doing most of the dialogue work in 5.1.

Wink

Sounds like a screamin' deal to me..I'll take 2 [Y]. As far as imaging, due to location I'm kinda stuck with a low ceiling and a brick end wall/fireplace. I thought about playing with acoustic panels once upon a time but that project kinda fizzled out.

Welcome. Five channel stereo! You are doing it wrong, son.................lol. I'll get you over to the dark side soon enough, just hang out in the two-channel forum until you are indoctrinated, I mean converted.

No sir...I guess I didn't convey my thought process very well.....I don't listen to music in 5 ch, I just used that as an alternative to differentiate between what I was hearing out of my center when in 5.1.

When I listen to music....always 2 ch + occasionally sub. TY for the welcome!!

you don't smell like a new guy...Cool anyway, welcome back Yes

And what, may I ask, (being as I am a curious kind of guy), does a new guy smell like??? Something like a new car smell??? Or how about the new girlfriend/wife smell??? Or, more appropriately, is it more along the lines of "I think there's something dead in my attic" kind of smell??? [:)]

TY for the welcomes again!

Jeff
