tfoust
I'm looking for a drawing or photo that shows the mounting and orientation of the driver in the woofer cabinet. Has anyone seen images like this?
formica
Ask, and one shall receive… a 3D version from Marvel (beautifully done i may add)… http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/files/ls_k.jpg and a thread that shows the construction as well as the plans (look on page three)… http://community.klipsch.com/forums/t/96818.aspx?PageIndex=1 What are you looking to do? Marvel
The 15" woofer mounts against the panel with the vertical slot, facing toward the rear. A vertical splitter, directs the bass freq. left and right, and the horn expands while doing so. It then bounces forward and out the mouth. I've got better renderings of this, but not accessible at the moment. Bruce
tfoust
Not wanting to do anything. I own a pair of Lascalas and curious as to how that horn woofer designed. The pics you linked me to are the most revealing details I've seen but I don't understand that cut-out in the panel below the driver. It doesn't appear to open to any passage for sound to channel. It doesn't appear to open to any passage for sound to channel. The sound from the woofer goes out through the slot, around the corners, and out the front of the cabinet. As the previous poster mentioned, that bottom panel with the cutout is how you access the woofer. On pre-1975 models, the cabinet has a flat bottom and the access panel is at the top of the woofer compartment (also called the "doghouse", since the woofer lives there). On those pre-1975 models, the mid horn has to be removed to access the woofer. Here's a diagram showing the path of the sound from the woofer:
tragusa3
I can't see the woofer access panel on mine (post 75). Do you have to remove the bottom most board to see it? Looks so from the diagram.

The bottom most board, approx. 1/2 inch smaller that the cabinet dimensions, covers the hole into the woofer chamber.
