From the "doh" department: The Beatles, after an unsuccessful audition for Decca Records, audition for producer George Martin at EMI Records in London on June 6, 1962. Martin gets wise and signs the group the following month.

While fighting numerous traffic violations, James Brown's wife Adrienne claims diplomatic immunity on June 2, 1988, on the grounds that she's the wife of the Official Ambassador of Soul.

(Perhaps HornEd could claim similar immunity as the ambassodor of completely matched surround set ups!)

Noted vegetarian and Pretenders' leader Chrissie Hynde announces at a Greenpeace Rainbow Warriors conference June 8, 1989 in London that she once firebombed a McDonalds. The next day a British McDonalds restaurant is firebombed. The fast-food chain threatens legal action against Hynde and asks her to sign a document agreeing not to repeat her statements. She signs.

Rolling Stone bassist Bill Wyman marries 19 year old model Mandy Smith, June 2, 1989. Wyman is 52, but all that experience doesn't help, as they divorce two years later. In a side note, Wyman's son dated Mandy's mother.

Dougdrake....

You forgot....

Monterrey International Pop festival, Monterrey, CA, 1967:

A new star is "born" in America...a young black man from Seattle, Washington, who plays guitar left-handed, behind his head, and with his teeth...and whose grande finale at the end of his set at the festival is to squirt lighter fluid onto his Fender Stratocaster and set it on fire while it is still feeding back from his Marshall Amp speakers right behind him as he simulates making love to it and praying to it....he is shortly afterwards immortalized on a single by Eric Burden and the Animals titled "Monterrey"...whose lyrics: "...Jimi Hendrix, believe me baby, set the world on fire..." and the freaked-out hippies who watched him at the festival got all of North America clamoring for an album by this "new sensation" whose band had ALREADY BEEN ON TOP OF THE CHARTS IN ENGLAND FOR ALMOST A YEAR with their first album release..."Are you Experienced?" by the Jimi Hendrix Experience...LOL!

All of this after he was booed offstage numerous times as a lead-in band on his first U.S.A. tour, which he never even wanted to attempt because he feared leaving Europe where he was already doing just fine on the charts and in the clubs!!

And, just a bit over two years later he is dead!! But his legend is extraordinary!!!

Just goes to show you what talent, a can of lighter fluid, and a Zippo can get started, doesn't it? Smile.gif

Hey Hey now wait a minute! Maybe some of us should follow the Mokees example like they said:

Hey, hey, we're the Monkees

And people say we monkey around.

But we're too busy singing

To put anybody down.

And be careful because they also said:

Hey, hey, we're the Monkees,

You never know where we'll be found.

so you'd better get ready,

We may be comin' to your town.

And they might show up in our town handing out one way tickets for The Last Train To Clarkvsille.

Then what do ya do ? EEK EEK

I am very worried about you... Just remember those little clapping hands on channel 91.5 are just cheering you on...they are your friends...dont worry about the little lights in the trees either....but the bats and reptiles....they are a different matter altogether..
