Cal Blacksmith
A strictly personal choice for me is I like Yamaha. Look at the specs that each unit has then keep the one that fits what you do, the best. YMMV!

Moderators Youthman Posted September 12, 2012 Moderators Share Posted September 12, 2012 Absolutely loved my Yamaha RX-V1800 for HT. Fantastic receiver, HDMI, Support for the HD Audio formats, lots of power in 5.1, not so powerful driving 7.1. Only reason I sold mine was to upgrade to a pre/pro and get better 2ch. synergyfreak
I also have an older HK receiver having tough time selling its a 2008 model 1st gen 7.1 receiver. Posted it on craigslist and had some responses might try it on here.
MechMan
I have nothing but praise for the Yammi gear I have owned in the past. Can't speak to the Marantz.
Rick
Having quite a bit of experience with both brands, I'd pick the Yamaha if used mostly for movies, and the Marantz if mostly used for music. Not that the Yammie would be bad with music, but the Marantz should be a slightly warmer sounding unit. Having said that, I have owned more Yamaha HT receivers than any other brand, and IMHO they are well built, reliable, solid units...
Fotog
Both my systems have Yamaha receivers - although much lower units than your RX-V1500. No doubt which one I'd keep.
bigdaddy
I love my Yamaha HTR 6090. I would keep that if it were me.
