Rivernuggets
where is a good place to shop? Monoprice has a lot to offer for cables too.
Joe Shmoe
Looking at the XPA-5 along with the UMC-200, I am just going to need 5 RCA's.... Right? Sorry I'm new to separates.
Moderators Youthman Posted January 4, 2013 Moderators Share Posted January 4, 2013 That is correct Joe. The pre-pro will have 5 RCA Outs (one for each channel) and the amp will have 5 RCA Inputs.

Moderators Youthman Posted January 4, 2013 Moderators Share Posted January 4, 2013 You would use 5 of the 7.1 RCA Outputs to connect to the 5 RCA inputs on the XPA-5.

Joe Shmoe
I tried calling Saturday, but no luck. I also noticed the ship date of the 10th.[N] I noticed on the picture, the sub is connected to the XLR input? I take it some subs have XLR outs? Moderators Youthman Posted January 6, 2013 Moderators Share Posted January 6, 2013 Correct. My velodyne does. The umc200 probably has both xlr and RCA sub outs like the umc-
LCSeminole
You can use either RCA or XLR outputs on the UMC-200. If you have two subwoofers, both RCA & XLR subwoofer outputs on the UMC-200 are active.
mike stehr
Bummer the UMC-200 doesn't have left and right XLR subwoofer outputs. I could just run balanced L/ R XLR's right to my subwoofer amp. I could try unbalanced RCA's to a active x-over and go balanced XLR's to the subwoofer amp, or use the one XLR from the UMC-200, bridge the amp, and run the subwoofers in parallel or wired in series. Several options I suppose...if the tenth would hurry up and get here...plus two to six days...

That's how I have the UMC-1 setup. XLR to the Velodyne and RCA to the Klipsch.
Joe Shmoe
As I see in various photos, the UMC is stacked on top of the amp? Is this acceptable? I know with my reciever I didn't want anything on top to encourage airflow. I'm asking because I want to know how long of interconnects to get. tmassey
I don't think it's a good idea but the amp and processor usually run pretty cool. I think you could get away with doing that if you had to, but they should really have a few inches at least on all sides.
TasDom
As I see in various photos, the UMC is stacked on top of the amp? Is this acceptable? If you do stack them, these are great to use between components. Two fans suck up heat and exhaust thru the rear. They also have 2 speeds and a brushed aluminum top to absorb heat from the upper compoment. Also a bonus that the blue "on indicator" light matches the emo lights. I'm using 2 of them and they work great! Edit: link path (USA/ products/ Antec advance/ media components/ a/v cooler)
