Kilpsch Heresey speaker not working

I have an old pair of Heresey from the late 70's, early 80's and One of the speakers is dead. I tried another pairr of speakers and I get a stereo sound which indicates the received is working as it should. How can I diagnose the problem ? Thanks

If the back comes off,,,, take it off and check all wiring very rare whole speaker is dead. Check all conections first with multimeter if you can. Rick

^exactly... I highly doubt he speaker is dead. it may need some tlc though.

When you off screw the back baffle you will see the crossover/ make a draw and uses some masking tape to identify whhat wires go where. Then undo all the screwa and use contact cleaner and clean all the contacts.Reassemb.ee and snug all the screws well you should be goo to go I have had these with all tight screws and still enough oxide to stop a driver from working. Do that and repost back whith how it goes. If you are not working then you can check the individual drivers ain a low volume setting one at a time. Keep us posted. Best regards Moray James.

The most basic test is to set the VM on the continuity setting. If touching one lead to each speaker lead doesn't show continuity (produce the same result as touching VM leads together), then your problem is probably a loose connection to the cross over. On the same setting, test each driver for continuity.

Moray James' suggestions are the way to go. Take digital (is there still another kind?) photos of the connections before taking anything apart. As was suggested, label the leads.

It's extremely unlikely--to the point of impossibility--that all three drivers are simultaneously kaput. Good luck.

Did check continuity and every speaker has it I posted some picture. Anything else I could check ?

Check each connection, to include the connections on the speaker back. Unscrew, check, clean, reinstall...for ALL screw-down connections to include rear terminal on speaker back (which is most often the problem to begin with!). Also, check amp speaker fuse for that channel, if there IS one. Sometimes fuse is the culprit.

Found the problem... One of the lead speaker wires is dead...posted another picture..

Anyone know where I can find same gauge wire and terminal connectors ?

solder the joint it should be fine after that you should solder them all or cut the old connectors ojj install new comnnectors and solder them as well you should be good to go. These diaphragms rarely go south they seem to last forever. Best regards Moray James.

Found a similar connector in my tool box and installed it. I works like a charm.
