jeff spicoli
I will be moving into a bigger house in the next few days and need help placing my Klipschorns. I cuurently have them in my mobile home, but one isnt in a good corner and now we have a chance to move into a house that I think has good corners and I'm really, really excited because I can see what these speakers are made of!! I know they need good corners to perform to their potential, but looking at my pictures, will the wall on the left side of the photos be long enough? or does the wall need to be just long enough for the speaker? Daddy Dee
ideally a longer wall would be better. i think i'd go ahead and use the corner as is. if you've got a good corner for the other speaker and half a good corner on the left side, see how it sounds. i imagine the sound will be pretty good as is. jeff spicoli
I guess it would be similiar to a false corner?? Since its a large sized room i'm hoping it dosent affect the sound??
LarryC
I agree with Dee, The side of the K-horn may project into and narrow the doorway a bit. I believe the length of the part of the top ("home") plate that abuts the wall is 22", so it will close into the wall if you have that. It kinda looks like you have at least that much. The more the better, cosmetically and probably sonically.
psg
Four feet is enough for a false wall. Looks like maybe 3 feet there? Not optimal but likely 85% there?
The Dude
I think you might find it will work. How big is the openning, you could always extend that wall. Doing that would all so give you the chance to beef it up with some 3/4" plywood.
Turbox
Yep, agree, make it work.
jeff spicoli
the length of the wall is 31"?? or 33" i cant remember?? was moving all day yesterday and all day today.
Turbox
Try it out and see how it sounds. to check the difference, you may be able to Jam a piece fo ply wood in there as a false wall? at least temporarily. I neither of those work, i can take them off your hands.[Y]
LarryC
the length of the wall is 31"?? or 33" i cant remember? In that case, the front corner of the K-horn on that side might come close to flush with the edge of the entryway and the appearance might be fine, as the home plate is 28" from front to back. Sonics might be lacking a little in the bass. See HiFiLit.com's PWK page for 1957 for gross dimensions: http://www.hifilit.com/Klipsch/1957k.jpg. tblake10
My vote would also be extned that wall out just a bit and make it optimum at some time. Now while you are possibly doing other work on a new house or later if you have too much to do now. I would definitely stick with the khorns either way.
