djk
They look odd in color, they looked better in black and white.
NBPK402
I remember years ago when they first started colorizing movies and they looked pretty weird, but these looked great IMO.

Moderators Amy Posted November 6, 2013 Moderators Share Posted November 6, 2013 I love black and white, but I also enjoy seeing old photos colorized. They may not be as good, but it's interesting to see how the past looked as if we were there, with our own eyes. Unless, of course, you can't see colors. Thanks for posting! Rivernuggets
Couldn't have said it better Amy. The color pictures put me a little closer to the people in them. edit: this is not to disrespect B&Ws, just looking at these pictures in a different way. LarryC
They look odd in color, they looked better in black and white. Some of the pics in Rivernuggets link look like they were taken with color film, and Audrey and Einstein almost look like Kodachromes. I believe Kodachrome was around by WW II -- someone posted recovered WW II-era Kodachromes from the Pacific front a couple of years ago. The 19th century pics were originally B&W, of course, but looked pretty good and revealed (to me) only by slight excessive color homogeneity. I agree with the comments that color and even some colorizing can add real life to photos. Remarkable!
