Tremors
As a recently new owner of an Oppo 93, I gotta say I'm pretty impressed. I, like most, had been using whichever DVD/BluRay player that we happened to own, without giving much thought to it. Anyhow, I had heard of this small miracle called a Darbee before but I've never viewed anything on one, nor have I ever seen one in person. Interestingly though, Oppo appears to have paired up with them and now offer an Oppo - Darbee version for $100 bucks more. Kinda funny, why not just buy the patents/rights?, but whatever. Maybe they weren't for sale Anyone tried out one of these and have an opinion or review to share? cyclones22
I have one. I like it. I bought it mostly to run my FIOS though it and I've been happy with the results. I leave it on all the time at 35 on HI-DEF even while watching Blu-rays. If you're going to buy a 103, may as well add $100 for the option of Darbee. CECAA850
I recall a thread here when the original Darbee product came out. I believe the general consensus at the time was that it was worth it for larger projector screen applications and that smaller screens or normal displays did not benefit that much. Bear in mind I've had a couple cocktails since reading that thread and may not have summed it up completely accurately but it seems that was the gist of it. cyclones22
I can definitely tell. I own a 64F8500 and sit about 7 feet from the screen. It's fairly painless to pause a scene and flip Darbee on and off to see the difference in detail. I recall a thread here when the original Darbee product came out. Tremors
Hmm, interesting thoughts. I do recall that thread about the Darblet as well, now that you mention it. I still wonder though why they don't just hire this guy or buy his patents?

The darbee on a projector is imo a must have. The before and after is really amazing and something i would not be with out after owning it. On my 70" sharp its not as big but still an upgrade. Imo you can find better things to spend your money on if you have a 60" or smaller screen. Its pretty cool that they are coming in oppos now.
