Moderators Youthman Posted May 18, 2014 Moderators Share Posted May 18, 2014 (edited) Hey guys, I'm trying to help a family member out and find out even a "rough" value for this lot of 190 Vintage CD's. I believe the music is from the 40's, 50's and 60's Era. Some of the CD's are new, unopened. Looking on Ebay, prices are all over the place. Some CD's I'm finding sold for $20.00, while others for $1.00. Any help on a ballpark value of this lot? The top two are Multi-Disk Sets. If a forum member is interested in them, Edited June 21, 2014 by Youthman
Schu
a buck a piece... unless you want to take the time to list them individually and sit on them for weeks or months while folks decide if they want to buy them.
Moderators Youthman Posted May 18, 2014 Author Moderators Share Posted May 18, 2014 Thanks Shu. Are you familiar with any of these artists? No, she definitely wants to sell them as a lot. Just trying to get a ballpark price for her.
Schu
Most of them... the pricing on CD's as a format have and will more than likely continue to fall. she may be able to ask for 2 bucks a piece but will more than likely have to fall back closer to that 1-1.25ea figure. jason str
I have the same problem, over 1800 classical & jazz CD's out in the garage from Dad and his passed friend. Too bad i don't get into that kind of music or it would be a personal gold mine. Good luck with your C/D's
Moderators Youthman Posted May 18, 2014 Author Moderators Share Posted May 18, 2014 Cool cause I don't know ANY of these artists. Haha. Sorry to hear of your Dad's passing Jason.
Moderators Youthman Posted May 18, 2014 Author Moderators Share Posted May 18, 2014 If anyone here might be interested in the lot, shoot me a PM. Otherwise, I'm just going to list them on Craigslist.
jason str
Thanks for the condolences Youthman but dad is still going, he just is no longer interested in music for some reason. Just gave up cold turkey His longtime weekend music session Bob offed himself a few years back and willed pop's his C/D collection, poker set & chessboard. Moderators Youthman Posted May 18, 2014 Author Moderators Share Posted May 18, 2014 My bad Jason....I misunderstood when you said my Dad and his friend's passing. You should buy him some Klipsch to help get him back into music.

jason str
If you decide to part out the set i will take the Cab Calloway C/D
Moderators Youthman Posted May 18, 2014 Author Moderators Share Posted May 18, 2014 Thx Jason. I'd rather sell it as a lot. Would get very tedious trying to sell them individually.
JL Sargent
One of those is the Harry James Band. He was in interesting fellow and actually was born to a circus couple. Father was the band leader and mom an acrobat. He was married to Betty Grable (they had two kids) and in 1939 gave Frank Sinatra his first singing gig with a "name band". Big bands cost big money to keep afloat and in 1946 he disbanded his big band group due to lack of income. Photo below is from his appearance on the Luci/Desi Comedy Hour. The guy also knew a lot about horses/horse racing and was a founding investor in the Atlantic City Race Course.
