TasDom
I made these a while back for my 16:9 screen. Very easy and cheap to do. 1 4x8 sheet of 3/4" styrofoam from Lowes (rigid and very light weight) High power magnets,1/8" wooden dowels and 1 can spray adhesive from Hobby Lobby Black velvet fabric from Hancock's Fabrics (Hobby Lobby has it too but were sold out) Cut the panels to width with straight edge and razor. My screen is 10' wide so needed to extend the 8' pieces. I used wooden dowels to join and secured the joint with black duct tape. Joined together using an interior wall as a guide to keep them straight. I used a socket wrench to match the magnet diameter. Heated the socket with a torch to melt the styrofoam the thickness of the magnet. Don't heat the magnet to do this because is will shatter and explode (don't ask me how I know) Magnets were glued in with a non-solvent Elmers glue. Panels wrapped and glued with fabric. Didn't get many pics here since I got glue on my hands. Before and after screen shots So for around 60 bucks, no more gray bars on 2:35 movies Edited August 8, 2014 by Tasdom
