1975 La Scalas

I have a consecutive pair of '75 L S

Cabinets are a bit beat, stained a medium dark brown (don't recall the exact flavor)  I''m the only owner, purchased at Turntables Unlimited in Sac I believe in April 1975.

Inexpensive handles on sides for moving them around, no electrical upgrades, 1/2 amp fast blow fused (as per PWK himself....met him on two occasions when he used to do tours & presentations at his dealers)

One tweeter blown in the early 80's, replaced w/ identical ElectroVoice tweet, have the original still........

I've been out of work for two years, some idiot medical stuff going on, not quite old enough to retire, in between all kinds of rocks & hard places & REALLY would not like to sell what's a part of my flesh & blood, basically...... but, this may very well have to happen.......

IF, if there's enough interest @ 1100.00 (maybe a little less) I'll go into storage & try to get good enough pics......

I know they're not all snazzy & re-worked in the crossovers, etc., but as far as I can tell, they still seem to sound pretty dang good.........been in storage since I got married in '06...........

Let me know if you'd like & I'll get the photos.....if it seems too steep & no one's interested, I'll not mess with it.......

(right near downtown Sacramento, unsure if I'd even have the money to ship)

Hi Ken, welcome to the forum...  Do indeed, given your situation, ask for the buyer to pay for shipping if you decide to sell or simply include shipping in your price.

You may find that you will have greater success with your speakers if you do post some photo's...

Good luck with your sale....

OK........

I've looked around for the tags & original reciept & can not find them.......yet.........

The pics are ok at best as it's hard to get good light where they are.......no room at home, but maybe I could take them out into the parking lot or something, if need be..........

The stickers are me wanting a place ton save them out of the fray at the time......

They can fairly easily go, as the finish ain't all that good & would need to get re-done anyway........

Those look cool. It's like a piece of Americana. I wouldn't change them a bit. Just freshen everything up, new seals, and puttem in my man cave with a sticker or two of my own.

$1,100 is too much... I'd start at $1,000 and let somebody beat me down to $900. Sorry if that disappoints, and it may be different in Sacramento.

Best luck with the sale of those very awesome LaScalas!

Sorry you have to part with them -   I am venturing to say they are not from a "smoke-free" home  ;)

.

Naw, not smoke free or dog & cat free.....just a regular human being, I guess..... :)

That's a good price. You should list them on ebay and on craigslist with pick up only. I don't know how many folks here are from your area.

I still think they would be kick butt man-cave speakers!

Thanks, maybe I'll try that out....there's a fellow in Roseville that's pretty near here, but perhaps he's all set up already....

Thanks for your input folks !!!

Thanks, man.....

I wasn't sure what they should go for, so I read thru some threads here & started higher up.....

My intention was not to just milk the forum for info, but to actually move them along to a good home, so thanks to everyone whose taken the time to read & respond....much appreciated & I'll probably try out what Mustang guy suggested....

You're OK.  I've found this forum to be a valuable source of accurate information on speakers and what they are approximately worth on today's market.

The only guys we balk at helping is someone who posts here because they are flipping speakers as a business and their ONLY purpose is money.  Those guys get identified very easily, and are few and far between.  You are not "that guy."

Thanks man....

In recent years I've been collecting old Weber kettles & the same thing applies with that crew of folks....free exchange of info, flipping just for profit is mostly frowned on, help out the new guy, pass along deals in other's area, do pickups for people, etc.

Just wanted to be straight up w/ all you folks.....great bunch of people here, not to be taken advantage of.....

Killer restores by some also !!!!

I remember the old Turntables Unlimited, Howe Ave. south of Arden if memory serves. Heard my first pair of K-Horns there. They demoed them with Pink Floyd's The Wall. Amazing sound, when the helicopters come in with that big down beat, awesome! Thanks, brought back a great audio memory. Oh, what was the name of the Stereo shop on Arden a ways east of Howe? I think they were the JBL dealer back in the day. Good luck with the sale.

I would bet that if you could repair these cabinets and put them in a decent shape - the 1100$ or more is possible - the extra effort might be worth the elbow grease of 20 or so hours of work -otherwise they are just an old beat up scala - and there a lot of these around -
