Is that a 2" throat?

no it is not a two inch throat. None of the Klipsch home gear has two inch throats they are all one inch or smaller. The diaphragm is two inches (nominal) that sometimes causes confusion. Drivers are generally described by their exit size so that people can quickly tell what size of horn they will fit on. Diaphragm diameters can vary and matching drivers to horns is what users really want to know most of the time. Hope this helps. Best regards Moray James.

Does that use the same diaphragm material?

Google would have been faster for you. Diaphragm is the same phenolic material.

tions

Compression driver unit shall be Atlas Sound Model ____ (PD-5VH,

PD-5VT) or approved equal. Unit shall have a full range power capacity of

40 Watts when measured above the low frequency cut-off of the large

format horn.

Rated frequency shall be _________ Hz (±5dB) measured on a plane

wave tube at 1 mW. Low frequency limit at full power shall be

__________ Hz. Voice coil impedance shall be 16

Ω

.

Each driver shall have a sound pressure level output capability of

____________ (avg) ±5dB.

Non-transformer Model PD-5VH shall have magnet material of

temperature-stable Alnico V-DG. Transformer model shall have a ceramic

magnet. The compression driver shall have a voice coil of 2" diameter

and constructed of cloth-based molded phenolic.

Transformer-equipped Model PD-5VT shall provide selection of power

taps (for 70.7V line) of 2.5, 5, 10, 20, and 40 Watts. Impedance and

power taps shall be clearly identified on screw-terminal board.

NOTE: Plane wave tube measurements provide resistive loads to test drivers.

Actual frequency response of a driver / horn combination will vary depending on

the horn used with the driver. Consult individual horn specification sheet for typical

horn frequency response.

Does that use the same diaphragm material?

Google would have been faster for you.

Unlike 99% of the population... speed is not nearly a important as accuracy.

So shall it be written... so shall it be done.

you can write crap but you are too lazy to look. for the sake of others I am happy to post. Best regards Moray James.

How do these compare as to sound quality to the k55?

I am not well versed in the details of all the versions but can tell you that the Klipsch k55 is built by and bought from Atlas. these are the real deal. Others can provide the finer points of the various models. Best regards Moray James.
