The cane grill look great with the raw. people put walnut stain on them its looks like hell, of course thats just me I think the factory birch stained lacquer looks very nice, especially beside my walnut Cornwall, Belle and Klipschorn. The patina looked great, the first thing the guy did was put a belt sander to them, it took the patina off. he was going to stain them.
