DizRotus
I just downloaded seven recordings from Dave's blog. While I haven't listened to all of each one yet, the one titled, "earthandallstars" is amazing played through my Pono player. The low pipe organ notes put my four TH subs to the test. You can really feel the power of the organ. I heartily recommend Dave's recordings. Thank you Dave. Mallette
You are welcome, Neil. That one is the 1861 Hook tracker organ in Marine City, Michigan played by a good friend. He also wrote the improve on that hymn. We were traveling the long route to Washington state that summer for a family gathering and stopped to visit. Did that setup with stuff I was carrying to record my niece's senior recital in about 15 minutes. I really like that one as well. BTW, magical mystery goo arrived and I'll be looking for a suitable "before and after" target this weekend for a Hope demo. DizRotus
EDIT: It just occurred to me this post should be in your "B'Jesus . . . " thread, so I re-posted it there. On another note. Do you have any other recordings available for download? I'm especially interested in any with deep bass, as in a pipe organ,. to demonstrate my DIY 25Hz TH subs. Mallette
It's OK. I can move a topic, but not an individual post. Dave
juniper
Awesome job Mallette and good for you!!! It still surprises me how bad most recordings sound..... Edited April 1, 2015 by juniper
Mallette
Thank you, sir. The bad CDs of the 90s were precisely why I wanted to find out what made them sound so bad. I still don't know. Anybody with two good mikes put where their ears want to be and a half decent recorder can beat 90 percent of the crap they sell us. As I mentioned above, this one wasn't even planned. Target of opportunity. Dave
sean5340
A couple of years ago I downloaded a piano recording from Dave. It was by far the best recording I had and really made me love my LaScals's with a sub-woofer. I still have the recording but the LaScala's are gone unfortunately. Dave is a master in my opinion. I could close my eyes and imagine the placement of the piano. Dave confirmed what I was hearing and I then knew my system was right. sean5340
You deserve the kudos Dave. For anyone interested check the very bottom of Dave's substantial blog for Claire de lune.
Mallette
I think the ones they downloaded are on my blog site under "Attention Audiophiles and Music Mavens" and "Music Files by Request." The blog link is in my sig line below. Dave
sean5340
I just checked again and I don't think it's at the very bottom. I guess the page was still loading. It's in there somewhere though.
Mallette
Well, there are a bunch in the two entries I mentioned above. "Clari de lune" is in "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Future." It's a link in the paragraph in RED. Dave

Mallette
If you are using IE, just right click on the link and choose "save target as." Don't know about other browsers. Dave
mxr dad
Yep, that worked. I have to put it on USB then play in the Oppo 105. Sounded great, thanks for sharing.
Mallette
Well, remember there are a variety of items scattered around in those blog posts from pipe organ to St. James Infirmary. Easter egg hunt... Dave
Rivernuggets
It was by far the best recording I had and really made me love my LaScals's with a sub-woofer. At first I thought it read "really made love to my LaScala's..." Thanks for pointing out more downloads Neil. Dave, I've enjoyed your Claire de lune many times over. Thanks. And that 1861 hook organ recording is goose bumps.
Kent T
Mallette, it would be heavenly to hear one of your fine recordings on open reel on 1/2 track. I love your work. You do excellent recordings, and your minimalist miking is superb.
Mallette
And that 1861 hook organ recording is goose bumps. You should have heard it on KP-650's, stacked, blowing full blast across 640 acres near Hope. Goose bumps had goose bumps... And, Kent, I only have two ears, why would I need more microphones?
