joeinid
Why? see photo. 500 mV ? I bias them at 500 mA I highly doubt that. What's the difference in EL34 and KT150? Edited December 26, 2015 by joeinid
xxJPMxx
Okay that makes sense you are reading voltage at a mV scale. So they probably have 10 ohm current sense resistors which would convert to 50mA using ohms law. When the amp is powered off you can check this resistance by setting your meter to read resistance. joeinid
I am not fluent in electronics. It's a wonderful sound and wonderful integrated amp. I absolutely love the KT-150's. Edited December 26, 2015 by joeinid
xxJPMxx
All good!! I just wanted to make sure you weren't trying to blow stuff up
Jim
I bias them at 500 mA I highly doubt that. What's the difference in EL34 and KT150? Well the name would imply that one is a kinkless tetrode and the other is a pentode. BUT the KT150 is in fact not a kinkless tertrode as the name would imply, it is a pentode just like the EL34. I don't know why they market it as a "KT". The difference? The KT150 has about 1/3 of the plate resistance compared to the EL34 giving it a lower Z out, hence the tighter bass. So would my amp do better with tighter bass than what we have in it? Just curious.
Jim
New Jolida shipped? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jolida-Audio-FX10-Integrated-Tube-Amp-in-Black-/121543943911?hash=item1c4c9566e7:g:GiUAAOxyVaBSq0z7 I like this one. 20 wpc may do what I need? This 2 and 8 watt per channel business scares the creepers out of me, particularly at these costs! My SS pushes the first 20 watts in class A. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jolida-JD102CRC-tube-amplifier-DEMO-/262064554174?hash=item3d0443c0be:g:vqUAAOSwa39UrJO- Remember this Matt, in the beginning of your quest? LOL. I would print this and put it above the amps as a friendly reminder. Who knew ahead of time what a few watts would do putting a smile on your face.
