kenratboy
No, I am not getting Bose because I cannot handle the awsome responcibilities thrust upon thou who aquires Bose. Bose Store? a.k.a enemy territory... Is it just me, or has Bose indirectly claimed to morph the laws of physics? HAS ANYONE HERE GONE INTO A BOSE STORE? I would not be caught dead in one unless I was on a commando raid ------------------ Receiver: Sony STR-DE675 CD player: Sony CDP-CX300 Turntable: Technics SL-J3 with Audio-Technica TR485U Speakers: JBL HLS-610 Subwoofer: JBL 4648A-8 Sub amp: Parts Express 180 watt Center/surrounds: Teac 3-way bookshelfs Yes, it sucks, but better to come. kenratboy
Do you know I actually was considering buying the Bose 301 speakers before I found Klipsch and JBL? Like, less than a week? I wonder how my audio life would have been? Well, I know I would not have had a dual 15" subwoofer in my house!!! ------------------ Receiver: Sony STR-DE675 CD player: Sony CDP-CX300 Turntable: Technics SL-J3 with Audio-Technica TR485U Speakers: JBL HLS-610 Subwoofer: JBL 4648A-8 Sub amp: Parts Express 180 watt Center/surrounds: Teac 3-way bookshelfs Yes, it sucks, but better to come. TBrennan
Ken--Actually I've heard some cones that are far superior to any domes I've heard, Fostex and Lowther for instance. Hey, Bose is OK, far more honest than the "high-end" speaker makers promising you Nirvana from a small 2-way with a weak-sister 6.5" woofer and a cheap tragic dome and wanting $3000 for it. www.chicagohornspeakerclub.org

kenratboy
tblasting? Where can I get one? Yes, I will agree Bose it better than some speakers, but it is the price and advertizing (especially that) that gets to me. Not to mention the people that buy it. ------------------ Receiver: Sony STR-DE675 CD player: Sony CDP-CX300 Turntable: Technics SL-J3 with Audio-Technica TR485U Speakers: JBL HLS-610 Subwoofer: JBL 4648A-8 Sub amp: Parts Express 180 watt Center/surrounds: Teac 3-way bookshelfs Yes, it sucks, but better to come. skonopa
Kenratboy asked: HAS ANYONE HERE GONE INTO A BOSE STORE? I would not be caught dead in one unless I was on a commando raid Nope, I never had. The closest one is some 50 plus miles away up in Tyson's Corner. It is not worth driving through an hour's worth of crappy DC traffic to visit a Bose store, that is for sure! However, I have always been curious to visit one just to see what they have, primarily, I'd like to listen to a pair of the 901s just to see/hear for myself how they sound. However, I have listened to one of those "ADAPTiQ" equiped Lifestyle systems at the local dealer and to be honost, it actually does work as advertised. We covered one of the cube speakers with a hat and the system adjusted itself to compensate and did actually produced a somewhat decent sound (at least what you'd expect out of Bose). (To his credit the salesman I was shooting the breeze with also thinks Bose sucks - he is one of those types that will try to talk a person considering Bose into listening to something else before buying, usually Boston Acoustics or Klipsch SB line bookshelfs. Unfortunatly, he has gotten customers that absolutly refused to take his advice to listen to other brands and was deadset on getting Bose. From the venerable Mr. T - "I pity those fools!" ) Anyway, you won't be seeing me running out to buy one. Hell, if I somehow even won one as a door prize or something like that, I'll just turn around and sell it off on ebay and use the money to upgrade something in my existing audio system (could get another pair of RF-7s plus decent cable to hook them up for what they want for those Lifestyle systems!) ------------------ Steven Konopa Fredericksburg, VA Denon AVR3802 (Receiver) RF-7 (Fronts) RC-7 (Center) RC-7 (Rear) RS-7 (A Surrounds) Infinity RS2000.5 (B Surrounds - recycled) REL Storm III (Subwoofer 1) Yamaha YST-SW40 (Subwoofer 2 - Recycled) JVC XV-S65GD (DVD) Sharp DX-200 (CD - ancient) RCA DWD490RE (DirecTV/Ultimate TV receiver) Sharp 32 inch (TV)
erdric
I drove by a retail area near my house the other day. A new sign was along the road: "Bose Home Theater Store". Honestly, I saw it and laughed out loud. Bose and Home Theater in the same sentence.
