power amp advice

Recommended Posts

I sold my MC 275 and am now looking for a high-ish power solid state amp to drive some relatively inefficient non-klipsch speakers. Preamp remains my C2500 (doubt I ever get rid of that). Possible speakers are Aerial Acoustics 7B or something similar.

Right now looking at a Cambridge Audio Azure 851 and Parasound Halo A21. Really want a McIntosh MC 302/352/452 but do not think I will find the right deal one of those.

Does anyone here have any experience with either of these 2 amps? Does anyone here have something similar for sale???

Thanks

I would have brought up the Emotiva amps but I thought by the reference pieces from Mc and Parasound he was looking more upper echelon. Personally I would pick up something from the Emotiva XPR line. Either a pair of XPR 1's or an XPR2. Huge power and they are really nice amps. Hard to beat for the money too.

It sounds like you are willing to spend at least $2400, here are some good options with a couple that might be just above that range, but worth considering as they will be in a different league:

I'd also second the Bryston recommendation.
