sscharf
Hi, new guy here. I just bought a pair of La Scalas from 1978. They came with some crossovers and extra parts. I can't figure out who made these. Shows a P/N 11646 on the board, and there is a panel to bi-wire(?) the input connections. I'm hoping to figure out what I have, how to install them, and how to tweak the sound. The crossovers that are installed right now are the original AA parts, and the drivers have been upgraded as well, I have not tried to figure out those changes yet. baron167
Look like LA Scala II crossovers (part number 116646). Would like to see pics of your La Scalas. And nothing wrong with AA crossovers - many people prefer them.
sscharf
LOL, I never thought that they would be LS2 parts! I'm new to Klipsch, but I do understand that LS2s have different drivers and cabinets, and I have not seen anybody recommend this combination. Deang
Those are AL-4's, you can use them - and you should. At least try them out and see what you think.
sscharf
Okay AL-4's, but it appears that I am missing the second part - the board with the transformers. I'll talk to the seller, to see if he has the other parts.
Schu
AL-4...
Deang
The Al-4 doesn't use autoformers - just penny junk resistors. :-)
sscharf
Yeah, I have the board on the right/lower, but not the other board. I never would have guessed without your help, and would have had a devil of a time figuring out why my swap didn't work.

No.4
If my memory serves me the second board with the squaretangular Jupiter caps are AA networks built by deang. I have the AA build thread bookmarked somewhere. Very cool build!
Schu
^ Correct, that is a comparison picture of the AA and AL-4...
JohnA
You should like the Type AL-4s. I thought they sounded pretty good when I heard them in Indy several years ago.
