dbImage
Hey guys, I have been troubled by the upper end harshness of my RF3's for some time.I tried everything to fix but to no avail. Finally I decided to try one last thing before dumping Klipsch all together, a new amp.The Rotel RMB 1075 changed my mind about Klipsh , I feel born again (lol). The Rotel is pure butter no question about it,bee-sting brightness is gone. Anyway, just thought I would post my experience and try to help anybody with brightness problems from the RF3s. If you have a Yamaha reciever and your unhappy because of brigthness, the Yamaha might be to blame.I still love my Yammy but not with the RF3s. Kain
Congrats! By the way, I have heard a number of people say that Yamaha A/V receivers are quite bright. ------------------ Coming soon... IndyKlipschFan
I will second the "brightness" of the Yamaha. I now own a Dennon...3802// And love it. I do, however, really miss the center EQ off of the Yamaha for sure. That made a huge difference!!
dbImage
Hey guys, I'm glad I stuck it out , saved some cash and bought the Rotel. Now I know just how much Klipsch can shine. Next step, gulp, RCA - real time sound field analyzer (about 5000k ).I understand that to get "Theater sound " you need to go the extra step, buy an EQ ( a good one) and then set it using an RCA - real time analyzer. It will be a while before I can save that kind of cash .So until then I will have to be satisfied with butter smooth highs from the Rotel. fabulousfrankie
I also noticed brightness w/my RF-3II's when using my RX-V800. I found my audio magic by adding a Parasound HCA-855a. BTW, I also found the amp in my older RX-V995 to be far superior to the newer similarly priced Yamaha receivers. With that receiver I didn't experience any brightness. ------------------ FABULOUSFRANKIE
boa12
are you guys still using your yammy's as the pre/pro? if so then you still have all the yammy pre/pro features, plus possibly spare less-burdened ampage to drive like rear surround(s). ------------------ My Home Systems Page

whell
I ran a Yamaha RXV 620 with my Klipsch for a short time. I no longer own that particular HT receiver, because the Klipsch, as revealing as they are, brought out all the shortcomings of the unit. I DO have a much older Yamaha integrated amp: a CA-810. Very warm and smooth with Klipsch. Not sure what has happened to the state of "Natural Sound", but my older Yamaha had it in spades over the newer unit. ------------------ Mike - Livonia, MI Klipsch RF-3 L/R Klipsch RC-3 Center Klipsch RB-5 rears HSU Research VF-2 Sub Marantz SR-19EX receiver Marantz MM-9000 Amp NAD T550 DVD Adcom GCD 700 CD
dbImage
whell: "but my older Yamaha had it in spades over the newer unit" I've heard alot of folks say that the "old" Yamaha s were less bright and more powerful.....maybe those folks are right
boa12
in general, pretty much the case for most of the old vs new - marantz, kenwood, hk, etc. of course they don't have all those new features & gizmos either. sort of a trade-off there. have to spend more to get both better sound quality & features these days. ------------------ My Home Systems Page
jwadd21
Yammys are pretty bright, but not to the point of annoyance, even using a dvd player with cds through a digital connection. I am using one right now and can cope with it because of my cambridge cd player and analog connection. I need an HK soon though, I think I want some warmer sound for sure. ------------------ MY SYSTEM Mains: Klipsch RF-3II Center: Klipsch RF-3II Rear L/R: Polk R40 bookshelves(suck)...soon to be Klipsch RS-3II Subwoofers: Dual SVS 25-31CS Subwoofer Amp: Fidek 3002 600w Receiver: Harmon Kardon AVR520 CD Player: Cambridge D500SE DVD Player: JVC XV-D723 Progressive Scan TV: Toshiba 32A42 32" This message has been edited by jwadd21 on 09-18-2002 at 08:29 PM
