kenratboy
Doesn't matter if its warez (pirated goods) or not. Let's here numbers. I'll go first (yes, very daring...) CD's - ~100 (1/2 are copies, 95% of my media listening/watching) MP3's - ~500 (ahh, thank you 1.5 mbps. DSL!) DVD's - 9 (yep... Still growing) Video's - None, no interest in videos. LP's - 4 (DJ stuff that didn't get used ) Other - ~100 computer CD programs (enough copies to send me to jail ) HD space - ~150 GB. Anyone here honestly have over 1000 CD's or LP's? BTW, our entile family had about 750 CD's and many 1000's of MP3's. I am only talking about MY stuff. ------------------ Receiver: Sony STR-DE675 CD player: Sony CDP-CX300 Turntable: Technics SL-J3 with Audio-Technica TR485U Speakers: JBL HLS-610 Subwoofer: JBL 4648A-8 Sub amp: Parts Express 180 watt Center/surrounds: Teac 3-way bookshelfs Yes, it sucks, but better to come. kenratboy
mkl: I am shocked and dissapointed that you do not have any illegal MP3's. Whats wrong with you? Oh, I also have a British (PAL) Beta of my Dad meeting the Queen of England, very cool. Justin, nice MP3 count. I think my cousin's Stanford buddy's could beat that 100X over. Phat server + all out T3 connection = MaD WaReZ. BTW, did you guys really sit (or stand) and count ECACTLY how many CD's you have? justin_tx_16
my uncle works for the queen, he has a picture of her framed above him so when ppl ask who is boss is he just has to point behind him haha. he works for the caymanian gov't, incharge of the gov't tv station there (the only station that is local) and the caymans are under british rule. it is a stretch but it is really funny how he plays off the queen thing. he has met her a few times though beta, oh the format that could not be... like DiVX. We have several hundred Beta tapes, but they are not that kind of beta persay, they are the BetaCam beta tapes for dad's betacam camera. we have way too many VHS, 3/4" and Beta tapes... a storage unit full of them, plus the room in the studio. too many to count and about 70% are jobs or family videos so they don't even count i suppose haha. easy to count how many DVD's or CD's you have. just count how many 100 cd or dvd racks you have. i have a 70 DVD rack I built and it has now 5 open slots. same goes for the CD number, a set number in the cases at the studio we have well over 1000 cd's, here are a few, lets see if i can't find the pic... ok, teh videos in the studio... what a mess! shelf one of three full of CD's, this is the newest one so it is not full yet. most of the cd's are demo's either we recorded for someone or something like that or sound effects and background production music for movies and commercial and what have you. ------------------ -justin SoundWise promediatech@Klipsch.com /1-888-554-5665 - RA# 800-554-7724 ext 5s> Email Me
kenratboy
Yes, BetaCam. This was a Hi8 (my filming, more on that later) to BetaCam transfer (NTSC to PAL) so they could make a distribution of the tapes (I get paid 50 pounds!!!) Anyway, It was my job to film. I go to the front of the crowd (being 6'3 (at the time) and massive in England gives you an edge on crowd pursuasion ) and have a view of the people the Queen will meet and start filming. Well, I was pissed. After the fact, I realized that the QUEEN OF ENGLAND had walked 3 feet infront of me and I saw it through a B&W viewfinder. Well, the video turned out great, but what can I say. That is the ONLY famous person I have seen and it was through a viewfinder. Oh well, it's fun to show our friends and family the pictures and tape (we need to get the stuff digitalized ASAP.) ------------------ Receiver: Sony STR-DE675 CD player: Sony CDP-CX300 Turntable: Technics SL-J3 with Audio-Technica TR485U Speakers: JBL HLS-610 Subwoofer: JBL 4648A-8 Sub amp: Parts Express 180 watt Center/surrounds: Teac 3-way bookshelfs Yes, it sucks, but better to come. Sholnay
CDs: 3 and i cannot find all 3 of them.. well, maybe one, my uncle has a wall of cds, probably 500+, my friends sister has and this isnt exaggerating, 12 200cd holders full of d/l'ed music burnt to cd. So do the math, its about 2400 cd's. Not that bad for all being mp3 full albums. Lots of trance. shes got 3 computers running networked round the clock downloading music and burning. Not a bad setup, great for gaming =) Used to work for interplay, has now started their(her and her boyfriend) own company. MP3s: 1925, about 700 of which i got when i had 56k, interesting note: my FIRST mp3 was Aqua Barbie Girl d/l'ed on a 28.8 What was YOUR first mp3? DVD: about 60 and growing LP: none, my dad has at least 2000 HDD: roughly 120, with an extra 20gig laying around VHS Tapes: 30 or so, lots of taped programs-seinfeld etc.. Seinfeld: one of my favorite shows, I now have 127 episodes dl'ed on my computer, plus his final standup "Im telling you for the last time" Other: Numerous amounts of programs, about 160 cd's of just backup - programs install files etc.. 18cds of mp3s. Tapes: I grew up at a weird time, CD's didnt really come in to play, and tapes were still strong, so yes, we have some tapes but not many- they have either been lost in moves, or burned. I would say 50 or so tapes are floating around somewhere. *edited note, I just increased the spacing for aesthetic purposes and for your viewing playsure... ------------------ "we only came to kick some a$$... rock the f***ing house and kick some a$$" - Tenacious D(kyle quit the band) This message has been edited by Sholnay on 09-20-2002 at 02:11 AM
synthfreek
First off be forewarned. I ran several record stores including a VERY cool independant collector's shop in Tampa called The Alternative Record Store. So here goes: LPs/12"s--->5,000+ 7"s--->300+ CDs--->3,000+/-(I have 200 alone from this one record label I collect called Fax Records) Cassettes--->500+ DVDs--->200+ VHS--->400+ MDs--->20(recorded comps-not original) ALL ORIGINAL RECORDINGS. Hundreds of DL'd MP3 & Wav compilation CDs. I am officially a nerd with no life. ------------------ Outlaw 1050 A/V Receiver Rega P3 Turntable AMC CD8b CD Player Toshiba 3108 DVD Player Klipsch KG 4.2s(main) 2 Dynaco A-10/V IIs(centers) Cerwin Vega E-706s(rears) Cerwin Vega LW-12(sub) Parasound PPH-100 Phono Preamp Vampire Wire Digital Interconnects & Speaker Wire This message has been edited by synthfreek on 09-20-2002 at 02:34 AM

mkl
As far as counting the things I own... I actually was robbed about 2-3 months ago now, and I had to turn in an exact list of everything stolen... so I dug through all of my receipts and records and had to find the exact amount , im sure I missed a few, but ohwell. For the most part since I had all of my cds ripped into mp3 I can easily get a count of how many albums I have, since I keep the music I download from Mp3.com seperate from the other files. Same with DVDS, all of them were stolen, so I had to have an exact count. The good news is I got an insurance check, and went out and bought all new stuff...a little over 8000$ of stuff. When I was robbed they didn't take any of my Klipsch stuff, but they did take my SVS 20-39 out into my driveway, and then left it there! Maybe they couldn't fit it into their car Since then I keep EXACT lists of everything I own and how much it costs (paranoid) -mkl

Noone hates moving more than I do. I'm fixing to start getting ready to do so in February and I'm not looking forward to it. Well actually I am since I'll be moving from an apartment(third floor) to a house. I have a few thousand LPs in these huge utility racks that you can buy from The Container Store. I recommend them highly. They're only $100 and an extra $20 or so for an extra shelf unit. The rest are in "peach crates", book shelves, milk crates and scattered around my apt. ------------------ Outlaw 1050 A/V Receiver Rega P3 Turntable AMC CD8b CD Player Toshiba 3108 DVD Player Klipsch KG 4.2s(main) 2 Dynaco A-10/V IIs(centers) Cerwin Vega E-706s(rears) Cerwin Vega LW-12(sub) Parasound PPH-100 Phono Preamp Vampire Wire Digital Interconnects & Speaker Wire

They have all kinds of nice stuff like that, and then another one at a similar store that was a little mmore expensive, i think $189, but they held 100 and 250cd's so you got your money's worth. and made of high quality wood with a wonderful stain. they have a $99 version that does not swivel at both stores and both hold 100 cd's, but to some $99 for a nice cd rack is too much. ------------------ -justin SoundWise promediatech@Klipsch.com /1-888-554-5665 - RA# 800-554-7724 ext 5s> Email Me
Sholnay
Justin, I assume you had at least two phone lines for you to be on all the time, I of course, and it sounds like kev, only had 1 =) This makes things more difficult, esp when you have a brother who likes the phone... "Get off the damn computer!... Ugh You're always online!.... Oh crap, did I just pick up the phone.. sorry (meanwhile im disconnected)... And hearing from everyone in the world.. YOUR phone is always busy! jeez!" Anyway, Do you mp3 guys remember how hard they were to get in the early days? I mean, I know I wasnt around for the first wave of mp3s, but I had my share of FTP servers, Back when audiogalaxy was just an ftp listing, and you had to SHARE!!! Now you can set the file programs to just ignore other people =) Before you had an ratio of 1:1, that was a pain, sometimes 1:5, so for 1 meg uploaded, 5 megs could be d/l'ed. HAH, that got frustrating on a 56k with upload max of 33, or whatever it is... then getting disconnected, and ftp sites wouldnt remember previous connections, so all that 3 hours of uploaded went down the drain! guh. ahh the good ol days =) Now everyone and their mother d/l's mp3s... but i still love it. ------------------ "we only came to kick some a$$... rock the f***ing house and kick some a$$" - Tenacious D(kyle quit the band)
