luddite
I recently acquired a McIntosh C27 preamp, which has a dedicated center channel output. I drive my 1989 Klipschorns as left and right speakers through a McIntosh MC2720 SS amp. I have a pair of 1984 Belles I plan to use as center channel speakers, driven by a separate MC2125 as a monoblock. I know the Belle was intended as a center channel speaker, but what would happen if I used 2? Side by side, or how much separation between them? My room is 30 feet wide, so I can definitely use the center channel as intended.
wvu80
Theoretically the reason not to run two centers is because you have two tweeters and two tweeters introduce lobing. I don't know how much this is a problem in real life but I imagine it is because if it wasn't there would be more dual center speakers. http://audiojudgement.com/speaker-lobing-polar-response/
Frzninvt
It would be far better with a single as the center image would be diffused with two speakers playing the same content.
dtr20
If you have the equipment, hook it up and see. It might work great, it might be terrible, but you will have that first hand knowledge. Then, you come back to this thread and tell us about your results.
mikebse2a3
I have used 2 belles as a center in the past berween Khorns and was very pleased with the results. Give it a try.... miketn
Kevin S
Long ago, on a planet far away, I had two Lascala's side by side as a center channel with a "tabletop" RPTV perched on top. My "golden ears" percieved no audible problems.
