What AVR seems to be good these days that will pass 4k and have pre outs for around $1000?  I have a Pioneer Elite SC61 that i use now.  Seems not many of the cheaper AVR's have pre outs like they did a few years back.

Charles,

If you have been happy with Pioneer, then look at this.

The Marantz SR6011 9.2 is last year's model and is still shipping.  It's a good value because the price a couple of months ago was $1400 and is now selling for $1000.  It has good power, Atmos, sounds good and has pre-outs.  I own this AVR.

The Denon AVRX3400 H 7.2 also has pre-outs for $1000.

Seems the Marantz AVR's are a hair too wide to fit into my system.

I could just run two HDMI cables from the Sammy UHD player and keep my SC61.  Not sure how that works, but i guess one cable goes into the TV and one to the input on my AVR.

This is what I'm doing with my Oppo. I run one cable to the TV and one to the AVR. The Oppo has a dedicated HDMI out for audio only. I have a Denon AVR 4200 that is supposed to have UHD passthru. I wasn't getting the message on my tv that is was passing thru, so I wired it like this. Now I can see the UHD picture.

I was worried about this at one time.  I am still using a non-hdmi receiver.  The TV is the center-piece. Blue ray goes through the TV or from dedicated 7.1 outputs to the receiver.  No need for disposable receivers.  Need a new one for HDMI, then 3d, then atmos, now 4K.  You never win if you are playing another man's game.

Multiple times with nothing but good service and prices.

You could even drive over to Apopka and pick up if you like.

Had no clue they were that close.  Last time i was over in that area was around 2001 when i was dove hunting. Be a good cruise in the Vette.  I guess going highway 50 to Clermont would be the best route for me.
