triceratops
Some of you may recall that I bought a pair of 1960 Klipschorns a few months back. I charged them on a zero-interest credit card to stall coming up with the cash, but now I've got to pay up so I have to sell my 1977 Belles (among other things). The Belles are oiled walnut with black grilles, sequential numbers, all original drivers, Alnico tweeters and squawkers. Condition is excellent, but there are a few chips on the edge veneers that I intended to fix but haven't gotten to yet. They look quite presentable as they are. They are located in Eugene, Oregon within striking distance of Medford and Portland, OR and Seattle, WA. Maybe even the Bay area if you are as dedicated as Tom! I could also work with forum members to ship them via Forward Air, but they would have to be professionally crated for that. I'm thinking the price for the speakers would be about $1600 plus shipping. If two forum members want to split the pair for center channels, I can work with that. I have sold two pairs of Cornwalls and a pair of Heresy's to Forum members, who could probably vouch for my ethics in transactions like this. Let me know if any of you are interested. For those of you that are looking for other stuff, I've got a Studer Revox B226 signature CD player on Ebay at this time--an oldie but goodie. Tom Mobley
And where do you think I trained for that Co. run? Went to high school in Medford in the late sixties, used to make dope runs to Portland, about 300 miles each way. No sweat, up and back, the trip back was usually pretty trippy, though. One of those trips I ended up in Reno with no money and no gas. Wrong place to be in that situation. You'll notice that Reno is not near Medford or Portland..... Lots of water under the bridge since those days, seems like it must have been in a parallel universe or something. Is there still a plywood mill named FirPly or similar in Eugene? An Overpass Tavern out on old 99? I used to live there, under the pool table in the back..... ran up one the great bar tabs of all time there. Ahhhh, for the bad old days.... Now I work for IBM as a Unix SA. Another one of those parallel universii, I'm sure. Tom
Tom Mobley
geez, did I really say that stuff in public? I must be tired. or something. Tom
triceratops
Hey Tom, Thanks for the humorous recollections! Up and back from Medford to Portland in a day is definitely some serious mileage--especially in the era before Escort radar detectors and cruise control! I haven't seen the Overpass tavern on 99, but there are a lot of bars on that stretch so it might be operating under a different name. Not sure about the plywood company either, but I'll look both up in the phone book when I get back home tomorrow and see if anything is listed... I think our khorns are close to the same age--I'll check my serial numbers when I get home. Best in horns, triceratops
Tom Mobley
mine are 1505 and 1517, one of the wooden horns is dated like 12/7/59. I figure production in very late 59 or early 60. These things are so cool. I'm lovin every minute of them. Tom

paul cbc
I was fortunate enough to get my '71 Cornwalls from Triceratops. He is a super guy who knows his Klipsch! Do not hesitate if you are interested as he is straightforward and takes very good care of things. (If someone wishes to pm me for more info you are welcome) ps-Ttops, Hope this finds you well. paul
triceratops
Thanks, Paul! When I get everything set up on the 1960 Khorns, I hope you will come over and check them out. It will still be a few more months. My current plan is to go with a pair of Welborne DRDs w/ 300B tubes. I am still trying to scrape together the bucks for that. I went to the Valve State of the Art Conference (VSAC) in Silverdale, Washington last month and it was great. Horns all over the place (Edgar and Orvis, I think) all driven by some of the coolest tube gear on the planet. You may want to check it out next year. How are the Cornies working out for you? Did you redo the grilles? Best in horns, Triceratops
triceratops
Bkrop- Thanks for the suggestion, but I think m00n tried the Belle Klipsch route and decided it wasn't his cup of tea. I'm hoping there are some other members in the great Northwest who would appreciate these... Best in horns, triceratops

Even if I was wanting a pair, there is one problem... I don't have enough dead presidents right now. I'm not working my side job any longer which is having a serious kink in my audio spendatures right now.

triceratops
Tom- This will crack you up. I just got back home from work-related travel and checked the serial numbers on my 1960 Khorns. They are very close to yours--my cabinets are 1568 and 1569, yours are 1505 and 1517. They are probably just a few months apart. The manufacture dates on my wooden mid horns are May 24, 1960 and June 1, 1960. Cool huh? Bring yours over and we'll have a sibling reunion--it would just be a couple thousand miles of driving... The closest thing to the Overpass tavern is the Overtime tavern, but it's on Bertelson not Highway 99. I guess the Overpass must be history... Best in horns, triceratops Hey m00n, Thanks for checking in. Did you and Audible Nectar ever get together when he visited this summer? I'd love to check out your HT sometime. Highly recommended as they say in the eBay world The Heresys were very well packed and arrived in excellent condition. If someone needs more information feel free to contact me. paul cbc
Ttops, The Cornwalls are indeed treating me well. So much so that I have not pulled them out of the system for the grill work & a light sand and oiling. Should be a good dead of winter job. Have the Belles sold? If not a couple notes for those who might be looking for a pair: 1. You can buy from a forum member who is honest and fair. 2. Rest assured that Ttops will take every precaution to ensure a safe passage for the speakers. One of the best looking of the heritage line imho. paul
triceratops
Hi Paul, Thanks for your positive comments. The Belles are still available, and so far no inquiries from the forum. Maybe it's the time of year, or maybe I should take some photos to get folks interested... On another note, the Welborne DRD 300B amp kits are on the way!
