maxg
Happy birthday to me. Now what toys am I going to buy? This is not easy - I own just about every toy I ever dreamed I would and a bunch that never crossed my mind. Problems problems....
boomac
Happy birthday maxg. My gift to you would be Duke Pearson's Wahoo. The LP or the CD or both.
Rivendell61
Make Craig's day: order a VRD. Only 39 Max! So many toys and so young. Let's see: about 9 during the Harold Wilson coal strikes/blackouts. About 10 for the Windsor Davies/Don Estelle 'Whispering Grass' on OGWT.... Happy Birthday!! maxg
Thanks guys. Well I just nipped out to a record shop I havent visited in a while and picked up: 1. Saxaphone Collosus - Sonny rollins on 180 gramme Acoustech Mastering sealed / brand new (interesting to compare to XRCD I already have) (OJC-291 / P7079). 2. Greensleeves - Eugene Ormandy / Philadelphia Orchestra Colombia MS 7103. 3. Vienna Chamber Orchestra - Mozart extracts - Colombia Masterworks 34589 - sealed. 4. Mendelssohn String symphonies 10 & 12 - SteroVox STPL 514.250 5. Mendelssohn Variations - Philips (Dutch original) 6570 141 6. Brahms Piano concerto 2 Szell/Cleveland - Colombia Odyssey Y 32222 All for $60 (most of that for the Sax Collosus - $35) Not bad considering the shop I wanted to go to was closed and at least I will have something to listen to tonight...unless I get lucky of course. hoggy
Happy BD. BTW it's also my BD. I'm 54 today. In 1950 it happened to be Friday the 13th. I think I'll buy myself a record cleaning machine. hoggy
Randy Bey
that Sonny Rollins will be a treat. My fav of his. Wish I had a good record of his; only problem is I'm too Scotch to lay out the cash they command.
neo33
Happy birthday, Max. Geez, and I thought you're older then I am. You're not even my little brother age .
mopar dave
happy birthday max. mine was the 9th. my wife bought me a new mapletree preamp 2A. can't wait till it gets here, i like new toys too. dave
maxg
Well happy birthday Hoggy. Randy - I'll tryt o do a listen and an A/B with the XRCD tonight and let you know if it was money well spent. To be honest I just saw the thing and grabbed it. Its the first time I have seen this vinyl in an age and Saxaphone Colosus was always a favorite - even before Kelly posted about it on here. They also had a Here's to Ben and Autumn Leaves by Jaccintha on vinyl but I drew the line there - I already own it on XRCD and SACD - enough is enough! maxg
Thanks Neo and Mopar. To be honest I thought I was older than you too Neo. I had you down as somewhere in your 20's - funny how you can never tell on-line. Course the real deal this week is not my birthday. On Saturday the wife and I celebrate 20 years together (since we moved in together - not since we formally tied the knot). As the mathematicians amongst you can figure - that is more than half my life-time.... God alone knows what I am going to get her...
tillmbil
Happy B-ay Max, dave and Hoggy. Max this makes you one of the youngest, why you might even be in T_shoemakers league as the youngest Forum member. I think you should go back to that record store and buy some classic "Rock-n-Roll" to start off the new you. At least spring for some Steely Dan. 3dzapper
Happy Birthday Max!!! Just think, this is the last one, you are the same age as Ronald Reagan, Jack Benny died at thirty-nine after fourty five years, some day you and your kids will be the same age. Happy thirty ninth birthday hoggy! you and Max are the same age now. Isn't it funny that the longer you are thirty-nine the more aches and pains you feel? Must be experience. Of course both of you are ten years older than I. A couple of years ago I had to tell my daughter that she was adopted. How else could we both be the same age? Yep' I,ve been twenty- nine for twenty-seven years now and counting. Max, buy the amp for your bedroom that you posted yesterday for your birthday. You are going to need something to listen to while you wait for the Viagra to work you old coot. Rick
maxg
3d, Waiting for the Viagra to work is not the problem. The problem is the wife keeps hiding the stuff. As far as she is concerned the best thing about audio is that I stop bothering her!

For your Happy Birthday, I would wish for you a little bit of The Asylum Street Spankers. Gets the ladies going every time! I might want to send you some Jack Benny tapes, too... maxg
Thanks for the heads up Fini - I just listened to some samples on amazon - now that is a group that cannot be categorised!! I wonder if they have anything out on vinyl....
Dale W
Happy birthday maxg I'm 40 on the 9th of feb but still feel 12 so thats the important part. I think 50 is the big one and a reality check for lots of guys, then your moto becomes " Anyday above ground is a good day " . lol
garymd
Happy birthday Max! I've been 39 for 5 years now. More than coincidence? Great pic on Collosus. One of my favs also. My favorite version of Autumn Leaves has to be with Miles and Cannonball on "Something Else" though. Have a great day and you're still too young for that blue pill. There's a very effective lotion on the market. The directions state: Have lotion liberally applied to your _____ by an attractive twenty-one year old female. Guaranteed to work or your money back. Mark Hardy
Max you are still a young man... how fortunate :-) Records and CD's are both excellent birthday presents. IIRC, I'll be 46 next birthday (late in '04). Many happy returns! (that's some sort of traditional birthday salutation that I've never really understood)
fini
Mark, I returned a whirlpool tub to Home Depot today. The replacement tub made me happy. I think that's what it may mean.
