elgrillo
I was moving my speakers around and looked into the back of my RF7's and I looked into the back of the port hole and noticed the foam back there seemed to be a bit wierd. I had not noticed what it looked like when I purchased them, so I don't know what they are supposed to look like. Gonna try to post my pics on here. Top Port Bottom Port Can't get them to work...Here is my imagestation link http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4287594681&congratulation_page=Y

elgrillo
THanks Todd. Is that The top or bottom Port? Do they look the same? Can you guys see my pics? Sometimes I click on the thread I can see them, and other times I can't.
BBB
The picture tod showed should look the same to you for both the top AND bottom port.If you look down into the bottom port you should have enough foam to cover the floor of the speaker while still covering both port holes. If not, either the foam was squeezed to the side or too far down OR there was not enough foam in the first place. You might want to try pulling the foam up with your hand through the port and see if you can move it up while leaving some foam on the speaker bottom. If it was loose enough to have moved it seems it should be loose enough to reposition it.On the other hand common sense has not always been my forte'
elgrillo
So the foam is supposed to be covering the entire back of the hole? Any moderators know if I should just try moving the foam with my hand?
skonopa
For comparison sake, here is a picture of mine: The top port The bottom port
Pistol Pete
Yes, just reach in the hole and straighten out the foam...its not that big of a deal. The foam helps reduce extra unwanted noise from sounds bouncing around inside the cabinet.
Deang
Boy, that stuff really moves around during shipping. Foam should not be covering either port. The foam should be flat along the bottom, and then curl up the motorboard.
toddvj
I took a picture of the top and bottom port, and both looked exactly the same. That is why I only posted the one pic.
elgrillo
So Dean, your saying everyone who posted their pic here is setup wrong? Can any moderator please post what it is supposed to look like.
elgrillo
Wait is it one big piece of foam?
Fish
Mine goes along the bottom and up the front.
Orange Peel
I believe my foam is covering the ports too, I though that to be strange. I wonder if that is reducing bass response? I always thought my RF-7's were weak in the bass area. I may move mine and see if it helps the sound.
