Vertical Cornwalls in L.A.

They look pretty nice but the grill cloth will probably have to be replaced. I'm assuming he's tried to remove the stain already. Wonder what it is? I remember a thread once about cleaning buteric acid (puke) from grills 6.gif

Changing the cloth could be difficult with this model. I've never done it but assume it can be done. Hell, I've regrilled my Belle center (cat pee from previous owner) so I suppose it can be done.

The whole front baffle comes out with about 4-6 screws, then you remove the cloth and put new stuff in its place, staple and secure, remount baffle to speaker. The drivers will come out with it. Not to tough, but not real easy either. Much, much easier than doing a Belle though - Yikes! There is a job!

You are going to love those Verticals! Those as mains with a Heresy the same style at center will sound awesome and look maaaaverlouss! Try some Bissell Fabric Upholstery cleaner in the blue can with a scrub brush top, it uses a quick drying foam and is effective at getting some tough stains out. I bought it at KMart.

I have used it on a number of my Klipsch speakers, it made the Forte' grills that I had look new again, same with the Academy grill. Give it a try.

It looks like a water stain where something could have been spilled on it and just slowly dried.

I did not think that they would last long, verticals don't come around very often. Mine are really old, and my brother in law's are even older, all original and can still crank it out 43 years later.

  • 3 weeks later...

I got these Cornwalls for a week now. Unfortunately these beautiful Cornwalls are just too imposing in front my entertainment center. Upright they cover part of the 100" diag screen. As much as I love to keep them, I can't. I will be putting them up for sale this coming weekend and stay with my Heresys all around.

I'll post photos of the Cornwalls this weekend after the Thanksgiving festivities.

Happy Thanksgivings to all.
