Actually, that would have made much more sense. There's plenty of crap out there. Why limit your qualifications geographically? I should know, my wife has been diving those crappy Jap Hondas for 8 years now. Sh!itty resale value, too.

A-man, I admire your style in a certain way, but you're crapping in the wrong yard on this one...

Your buddy,

Ben

Ben,

I really don't think he cares whose yard he craps in.

If you look at the posts in this thread in order you'll see that Guy asked a SIMPLE question: Why no Asian headshells? It was a GOOD question! Some of the best SME-type type headshells were made in Japan. I too was dumbfounded by the original post. The response to Guy's question was filled with vitriol and bile--just plain NASTY and combative. Maybe there's some history between these two that I don't know about and if so then I was shooting in the dark. Anyway, that's why I jumped in--maybe I shouldn't have but DAMN that response was uncalled for as far as I could see.

In the end I offered a nice deal on an original SME headshell--isn't that what the original post was all about?

Allan,

I always thought I got along with A-man but last week when asking a serious question (serious to me anyway), I got the same kind of answer. This is nothing new.----------------

No, it really goes back aways. At least sometimes he used to be funny. He tore into me over the CBS Masterworks remaster of "Kind of Blue" (a staple of my musical education), when I said that I thought it sounded pretty good, and that I was glad that they finally got the speed (and pitch) right. He told me that I obvioiusly don't know a thing about jazz or the record, or music in general. All that despite the fact that I've been playing jazz for more than half my life, and own a nice original 6-eye of KoB (which sounds great, but is sharp and a bit quick due to the mastering gaffe). Whether or not I've learned anything along the way about music is not for me to say. This was surprising, though, as lately he's been well-mannered.

At least when some of us get pissy, we have certain limits and a sense of style...

BTW, learning to play Miles' solo from "So What" on upright bass is both easier and harder than you may think.

"Ben",

Unlike yourself and possibly Gary, I do not need Allan's approval to validate my choices, with regards to words OR head shells. As far as "crapping in the wrong yard", you've lost me there. Allan some kind of sacred cow to you weaklings? Your phony *** political correctness makes me want to puke. Who the FU(K are you, the thought police?

Honda is probably the best "Jap" car (your choice of word, not mine) out there for real world consumers. By the way, they are built stateside.

bclarke421,

I was under the impression that I had apologized to you for any inappropriate remarks that I sent your way. If, in fact I did not, I do so now.

Your friend,

Well, feel free to do so again to any of my several friends that you've insulted this time. Hold your breath and see if they give a rat's arse.

Gary, Ben and I are FRIENDS. You don't have any so you don't know what that means.

I'll still sell you the headshell, but the price is now $35 and I want cash up front.

Hmmm, so so strange that sarcasm is lost on the likes of you. Either that or you're too obtuse to respond in kind. I don't know which, as the "crapping in wrong yard" reference was pretty direct. Reminds me of a bird I know....

BTW, for the record for those who may not be familiar with my way, my wife's first Honda was purchased new in late 96 for $12K and change (obviously Civic hatchback-nothing but air and auto). We just sold it a year ago for $2900 with almost 180K miles on it. Now, keep in mind we did put brakes and a muffler on it, plus a timing belt just to appease the purchaser's daddy, but still...

Umm. Let's see. Have a clue yet, A-boy? (He gets pretty good with the name calling, so I want to see what he comes up with here...)

Your dearest compadre,

Benito

Yes, I can do better than "A-HOLE". You better watch out, your self-righteous, condescending, oh so enlightened elitism is beginning to show! 3.gif

I apologized in a moment of weakness, that of giving you the benefit if the doubt.
