The ebayer in question (niha13) used this email address japsani1@aol.com when corresponding with the sellers he/she purchased things from on ebay.... not the deepsleeps@aol.com address that is trying to scam everyone.

Aol allows 7 email address per account so it wouldn't be difficult for the person to use one email address for legitimate purchases and another email address for his/her scams.

Don, you're right about wanting to see this followed up. At least someone named Jyothi Apsani seems to exist in the DC Virginia suburbs. Is there anything that can be done, and can and must Timmikid do anything from his location? I'm just wondering, is all -- Larry

Gilbert,

If you are wanting an MC-240 and are willing to spend that kind of coin, try http://www.audioclassics.com they are pricey but you know you are going to get a piece of gear that has been gone through and works!

eBay is not the place to find a deal on Mac gear, AudioGon, AudioWeb, and Audio Shopper, or AudioReview (Classifieds) are much better. I have seen MC-30's cheaper than you are wanting to pay for the MC-240. In addition Guy Landau on this forum is selling some Luxman 3045 mono's I would buy those over a MC-240.

Well, unfortunately one of the people scammed has to fill out a Police Report in order to do anything about them.

Tim said that he did. That report would have a CR number - Crime Report.

However an alternative way is to contact the media. Get a number of people willing to stand up and say I've been scammed.

Most are embarassed. I ask embarassed for losing your money?

If you can get a Trouble-Shooter Reporter or a Finance Reporter for any print, radio or Television to do a story on a non-U.S. citizen getting scammed and oh by the way here are a few more along with the AOL info Do it.

Ask one talks to a reporter one can mention coming at it from personal events, or a point that numbers of people are getting scammed and all eBay is doing is sending out notices.

There is nothing wrong with keeping a person up to date in an investigation per se. But ebay should be able to tell the person scammed if they are handling it in house or are they turning it over to Police.

I question how they are getting your email addresses. But that would be a combined Criminal/Civil action.

All information should be reported to:

Your local PD or Sheriff's Department 1st.

The IS of those involved and names used and include the Criminal Report number.

If you have a State Internet Fraud Bureau,

If it crosses any State line, as it will, the FBI internet Fraud

Your Attorney General 's Consumer Fraud Section

Your Internet Service Provider,

Any public Elected Official in any of the jurisdictions,

Any media you can get interested

Safe Harbour (Security) at eBay - you may lose privileges, but at this point do you care?

Don't be afraid to call your PD after a week to see how things are progressing.

Give copies, never originals, note date and time of Contact, have your computer show full headers, each message has its own ID number, harder to forge, note any others that have been scammed.

Give eBay all Law Enforcement Agency's info, so they know you are serious. Note to Law Enforcement the 2nd chance procedure.

Ask HOW your full email address was obtained. eBay is not supposed to give that.

Also send copies to the California and Florida wherever eBay is deeming to be bound by, State Attorney General.

Hopefully Timmikid will be reading this. I wouldn't want to see anyone (like me) slapped with a legal action for villifying someone. Within limits, I'd be glad to handle something at this end, such as identifying agencies he could contact and following up. So near yet so far?

Have Tar and Feathers will travel.

At least the individual is in the US!

I am suprised ebay doesn't take matters like this more seriously like I said before audiogon was very beneficial in getting my money back for one dead ead1000.

I didn't take too well to be being screwed out of $700. I know this is kinda evil but I had 3 of my sellers email addreses work/home, also his work/home/cell phone numbers as well as physical addresses. I was giving him a last chance at resolution before I started operation SPAM SLAM. I configured a linux box with a couple modems to use calling cards to call his various phones at all hours with a script from a friend to do this randomly from 1am -6am all week skipping occasional days. The home addresses were going to be saturated with catalogues from various and sundry stores. You know how it is get on one fingerhut or porn list and pretty soon your mailbox falls off the house. As for his email addresses he was going to be lucky if he ever found an email meant for him. Fortunately he finally said he was sorry and sent me the money back as he had both the cdp and the money. Seller Beware!

That was one experience out of many positive ones audiogon rocks~!

This stinks. I know how it is, but I never been scammed that much. I was just scammed for 33 bucks or so and still filed complaints with paypal. Luckily I payed by paypal. They have been awesome for me. I had troubles before with other buyers and paypal has always pulled through for me. I just got my money back a couple of days ago for that 33 bucks which I wasn't really even qualified to get. It states 50 or more feedbacks. So no complaints here for paypal. A big thumbs up. They also have gotten a few refunds for me on stuff that wasn't as advertised. You need patience this process takes a month usually or quicker. You actually are susposed to wait just about a month before filing. In your case I would file a complaint with ebay and whatevever complaint that is possible immediately. The guy that tried to scam me wouldn't answer his emails and was no longer a registered ebay user. Paypal just paid me with their million dollar empire money. I won't even buy anything or sell anything unless it's through paypal. If your selling you don't have to worrry about some scab not paying you and leaving you with listing fees. Well it's alot less likely. If your buying your covered buy the buyer protection plan usually. Also it goes in a permanent record for future investigations if needed. I can't stress how much paypal has helped me. Unbeleivable service. Ebay is a great help also they will email complaint links all the way up to the fbi. Even though ebay and paypal are the same company I would file with paypal first, because you will get your money quicker. They can be tricky too you have to do everthing by the books. Just incase anyones been ripped off via paypal payment I write this. Good luck, and have patience.

eBay handle one out of thousands?

I STILL would love to know how the scammers have attained the full email address.

If they are going through the eBay contact Seller OR the ask Seller a question and they have been informed that some of the addresses are scams, technically, they are aiding and abetting.

Be am interesting Civil case.
