D-Rex
Are either or both of these movies worth owning? I don't hear much about them but they seems to be movies that are potentially entertaining... Any opinions? D
toddvj
Yeah, I think they both are worth owing. The first one with the dts soundtrack is downright scary in parts, and the second one is just plain cool. ...Anyway everybody knows Chronicles of Riddick deserved to win Best Picture. I am thinking I will just rent them and then, if I really like them, buy them later.
gcoker
Best Buy has them both for 2 for $20. Yes they are worth owning and I thought Chronicles was awsome.
Colin
Owning? As in viewing over and over again? Nah, Vin Deisel fan that I am, probably not, will see babystitter movie though, wish he returned in XXX sequel, but no, don't need to see those over and over again... Foxman
I frequent various differant HT forums and the mojority of the opinions I have read about these two movies was that they werent very good. Cronicals has just been downright bashed. I was intrigued enough so I bought both as I really enjoy Sci Fi like this and I really liked both. I thought Cronicals was easier to watch because Pitch Black has a scene that lasts for a while in total darkness save for a really bright flashing light and that does get a little old. Otherwise I enjoyed both. Your miles may vary, but I would and did purhcase them both.
m00n
Watched them both, loved them both. I have a lot of movies I plan to buy some day and those are two that are on that list.
D-Rex
Okay, just bought Chronicles of Riddick ($9) at Columbia House and will either rent or buy Pitch Black. DVDs are getting (or have been) dirt cheap, the new format must be coming soon... D

sc03979
If I had to give a grade for both movies a B-. Pitch Black because it's a cool story and is written very well. Chronicles for only the special effects.
rpittman
I've got them both. Good soundtracks, story's not too bad. I'd like to see the third in the series made into a movie, but right now, it's only available in anime. I've noticed that if a movie has good subwoofer effects, I tend to like it. donnie
Chronicles of Riddick, excellant sound track, and effects. Story just a little slow. Really enjoy Vin. Looking foward to his new comedy (Pacifier), will add to my collection. Had to trim down the RW-12, LFE rocks this one

There is almost non-stop action in this film.
donnie
I'll watch it again. After two movies I was becoming a zombie.
sc03979
I also thought chronicles of riddick was pretty slow too. Maybe there's something wrong with me. I was really anticipating watching this movie and was dissapointed.
slofuse1
I really liked Chronicles of Riddick. I loaned it to a friend and he viewed so many times his wife threatened to throw him out. The soundtrack rocks the house. It's got great action and sets up for some pretty good sequels.
D-Rex
I finally watched Pitch Black and enjoyed it. One thing I had a hard time getting past was how much light was actually in the movie for it supposedly being "Pitch Black." I mean, there were times when only a couple of lanterns or a couple of flashlights were in use yet light was coming from everywhere, I kept asking my wife where that light was coming from and she said it was from the director... But, the premise was still good and it was pretty entertaining. Next up, Chronicles of Riddick...

damonrpayne
Yeah, I think if youre directing skillZ aren't what they could be you resort to the ShakyCam™ to put "action" on the screen.
