sputnik
It looks like New Orleans could get a double blow. First the Cat. 5 hurricane then subsequent flooding from the heavy precip. up-river. It'll be hard to watch. Take good care down there.
Dflip
To give you a really good idea, Jackson, Mississippi, a good bit north is expected to get catergory 3 winds with the rain. Anywhere in the path can expect flooding, especially low lying areas. Probably a lot of flooding in the river valleys in the Applachian Mtn area which can be more fatal than the main devastation when it hits the shoreline. Anyone in these areas also needs to take care and avoid any area suseptible to flooding, including areas much further north.

Audio Flynn
This does not appear to be a storm to be trifled with. Err on the side of safety and pray this disapates quickly.
kenratboy
If this storm is as bad as its potential will let it be, it will ***LITERALLY*** wipe the city off the face of the earth. I heard some comment about having to TEAR DOWN the big skyscrapers downtown if the flood damage is bad enough (ruin the foundations and building is destroyed)
nuclearay
Lots of strong wind and rain at my house. Many people were without power this morning. The brunt of the destruction was in west AL. Mississippi got torn a new one.
