Joe Shmoe
Much agreed.... Les Claypool of Primus is just unbelievable! I love the remake of N.I.B.! Cliff Burton Billy Sheehan What about the coolest Bass ever played? Here's my vote:
wheelman
Some of my favorite bass players are, Cliff Burton Geezer Butler That dude from tool sure throws down a mean riff also for what they do Robert Trujillo for that heavy funk when he did INfectious Grooves Dusty Hill Allen Woody Bigtime love him Godbless his soul Roger Glover has some cool driving riffs. Roy Porter Junior? awesome personality and vibe on stage with the mule. All worth a mention in my books, but Cliff Burton gets the trophy for me Orion is just about my favorite song in the world. It's an instrumental my the older metallica when Cliff was alive, and it's just amazing. Flea is phenominal just not my favorite. But he sure is great and love is bass lines. I am sure I am missing some but that's all I got for now, and you said the best. That goes' to Cliff.

Attila_Le_Hun
Unless mistaken, I never read Michael Manring in previous post. Amazing musician, exceptionnal technical skill and extremely melodic. I really like Victor Wooten also (great with Bela and VTT), Alain Caron (from Uzeb, a master of the 6-string)...... Grew up with Geddy, brought me to play bass and through him I discovered Tons of great bassists : Jaco Christian McBride Les Claypool Flea Steve Harris [not the best but I definitely like his sound and drive] Charlie Haden Dave Holland John Patitucci John Entwistle Jamie Haslip Stuart Zender (Jamiroquai's funky drive) ... I fell I can write names all day... and even forget some at the end. Finally, Gene Simmons, not for the thread topic but to bring my attention to rock bands thus discovering Rush later on...
