sputnik
A great man knows just when to put on a Barry White CD to change to mood! Greg I was young and had a long way to go. She asked me to put on some other music. I had no Barry (carnality was out the window anyway). I had some Joni Mitchell, but that just made things worse. Like following cheap booze with quaaludes and French cigarettes.
boomac
I can't imagine a best vocalist list without Frank Sinatra & Ella Fitzgerald! who are they? [] (I'm actually serious about ella....) Even my 19 and 21 year old kids appreciate Frank and Ella. Once in a while, my kid plays Sinatra tunes in his dorm room and he's never had a complaint. Maybe a few funny looks! My daughter is a C&W fan but she'll listen to Frank and/or Ella when she's here. If you seriously have never heard Ella Fitzgerald you should go buy one of her "Songbooks". Gershwin, Porter or Berlin. She's great with Count Basie too. Heck, she's great with anybody. Check out "Frank Sinatra at the Sands", with Count Basie. Somewhere in Montana they must have a station that plays Barry White....Lord man, I know the AV geeks at school were getting lucky with Barry's music. thebes
"Throw Leonard Cohen Out the Window" (spluttering outrage) One of the greatest poets of our generation (albeit with a dirty mind, and that's not a bad thing) Itsawomenthing, mind if I call you Ting? I didn't fight in Vietnam to have my sacrifices thrown in my face after all these years. Not to mention all the, ahem, smoke I burned in his honor to have one of my heroes treated in such a cavalier fashion. Leave an an overweight , bald, middle age white boy his dreams willya? itsawomanthing
thebes - I bow to you - never let it be said I took a fellow human beings dreams away! (Don't ask my first 2 husbands). BUT when I saw Sputnik ranting about Leonard Cohen all I could think of was "how sad, Leonard Cohen wasn't added to the list of artsts on the Golden Throat series. Leonard is right up there with Sebastian Cabot, William Shatner and Jack Webb in my book. Needless to say, at the end of the day I still don't believe anything by Leonard Cohen should have been used to try and set the mood - it might however, be something to consider playing in your earbud on your next fishing trip!! Anyone hungry? Carp & coca-cola on a cool night....ahhhhh refreshing. (I like the handle "ting" -- it fits me!!) BTW THANK YOU for your service to our country - I honestly mean this.[{][}] (I took basic at Ft Jackson, SC) "Throw Leonard Cohen Out the Window" (spluttering outrage) One of the greatest poets of our generation (albeit with a dirty mind, and that's not a bad thing) Itsawomenthing, mind if I call you Ting? itsawomanthing
Respect is something I'm not worried about losing!! LOL -- AV geek?? #3 definately had to have been an AV geek in school! As far as how low a woman can go, well, I'm sure that isn't rock bottom! Didn't you have the Chess Club and Science Club members in your school? At least the AV geeks were useful. ....Lord man, I know the AV geeks at school were getting lucky with Barry's music. itsawomanthing
Yes thebes - unfortunately I never had the concept of "sleeping around" -- instead I "marry around". This is #3 and hopefully he will be the LAST!!! Wild Ting -- well in my younger days I would have resembled that remark....now, more of a Middle-Age Mellow Ting. I also am a legend in my own mind!!
