Wardsweb
Just set these up this evening. Never thought I would think Cornwalls were little speakers. [] By the way, the grills are leaning up against the chair.

Audible Nectar
Makes the Cornwalls almost look like Heresys! Looks VERY nice, too. An A+ for aesthetics!
Stovebolt6
I remember seeing pics of your A7s years ago. I don't remember that TT in the room!! What is that thing? (I also bought some tweets from you in '03) Congrats on the Cornwalls. Don't forget to give us your impressions! Dan

Dan Yeah I noticed the TT first - looks like it is either a Clearaudio Champion level 2 upgrade or a Transrotor dual plinth model (cant remember the model designation). Whichever (and even if it is something completely different) - details please!

Whichever (and even if it is something completely different) - details please! Yes, it is a Clearaudio Champion II with an SME 309 arm holding a Benz Micro Glider. I first showed a picture of it in the "any vinyl guys here" thread : http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/3/675370/ShowPost.aspx#675370 Since that thread I got the acrylic dust cover from JMK Displays that I also showed in another thread. The entire thing is sitting on a diy isolation sandbox. That is 3/4" mdf filled with 25 pounds of #10 glass beads used in bead blasting. This stuff is finer than sand and feels amost silky to the touch. The Champion II (80 pounds) sits on a 1/2" piece of glass and the whole thing sits on 9 Daruma isolation bearings. As if that wasn't enough, the break front has a single piece top of marble that weights in at 210 pounds. So you could say there is a bit of mass there. Wardsweb
snip...Hey when is the next meeting in SA or Austin? I forget when and where the next one is. I really need to go to one of your meetings!! Are they on weekends cause I work M-F nights. What are the A7s? Horns? Details please. snip... Let's see, the next meet is actually in McKinney on March 18th. You can keep a watch on the Lone Star Bottleheads Website to track our events. We try to hold one every other month and they are always on the weekend. The A7's are Altec Voice of the Theatre in 825 cabinets. They are a two way design using a 416-8C driver for the bottom end, a 802-8G compression driver matted to a 511B horn for top end duty. rcarlton
The Bottlehead meeting is only 30 minutes away from me. Sounds interesting.
Wardsweb
sooooo...........how do the Cornies compare ................to Magnificents...??? I really need to do some extended listening, but on first impressions, they sound really nice. I like horns and these fit that bill. They are open with a good sound stage. Now these do have the "ALK" crossover, so I don't know how that differs from the original sound. The A7's do have more depth, but then with the larger horn that was to be expected. A funny thing - I was totally freaking at the weights - till I noticed they were in pounds and I was thinking Kilos. Even so that is one hefty setup you have there. Its also interesting for me in that the Champion 2 is a much more traditional approach to a high mass table (in many ways) than my Master Solution which weighs considerably less - as indeed does my marble plinth. I think my TT is about 55 lbs with the whole emphasis of the design being minimal body under and around the platter. I did consider yours very carefully and only went for mine because there are further upgrades available upto the Maximum Solution: I just need to decide if 3 motors is really a good idea. Wardsweb
That is one very sweet table. Just a tad more than my budget allowed. The mass in mine is mostly in the stainless pucks.

Me too - I am thinking ahead (probably to my 50th birthday). I am just 2 motors, one controller and the central locator away from it - but that is about $4000 !!! Actually yours is more massive than even that one (by about 5 lbs).
Jeff Matthews
Wow! Talk about turntables! Some people spend $4000 on watches. Others spend $4000 on turntables. Anyone know where I can get a $40 cheeseburger? []
