Coytee
How large are they? I'm in San Diego right now and driving back to Knoxville (3 hours north of Atlanta) I'm in ... Cardiff (?) by the Sea I think. Going to Tiajunan today. have a small ford station wagon that will have a lot of stuff packed inside as we drive ourway to Tennessee later in the week (leaving Sat/Sun i think) Point being, if the'd fit in the space I'd have and I can get the wife/sister in law to go along, I'd be happy to bring them back across the country. There are some logistical issues in my head, (after packing truck we have some stuff left over and might not have enoough room in car) But if I do have the room...I'd be willing to try. Olorin
Another speaker that would do nicely for relatively small money is the Quartet. The downside is that puts you in the Chorus/Forte/Quartet/Academy track, and getting an Academy for a good price can be tough. If I were starting a home theater from scratch knowing all that I know now, I'd either go KGs or small Reference. Don't get me wrong, I love my setup, but it would be better in a room about three times as large as I have. For a small room I'd go smaller. DrWho
I've got a pair of KG-4's here you could have for $350. Let me know if you're interested.

Cardiff is a nice place to be, I am less than 10 miles from there in Carlsbad.
Spkrdctr
I have a pair of Cerwin Vegas that are like new. They are LS-15s ($350pr) and worth every penny. If you want, I can pack them up and ship them to you truck freight. Packaging and shipping will cost some though. I'll get you a shipping price if your interested. darkside
Thanks for all the responses guys. I've been gone all weekend, just got back. But anyways, I am definitely considering CVs. However, in regard to oldbuckster, I can honestly say I have never "cranked" an set of speakers that I have owned, so I don't think CVs will have a problem. At the same time, oldbuckster, maybe you're right, go with some old Klipschs, or just wait. I know there are better brands than Cerwin Vega, but I personally have liked what I heard from them. However, I do agree that I should wait, and look around first. To everyone else, thanks for the posts []
darkside
Just a quick question: What other brands are that are recommended other that Klipsch or Boston Acoustics?
Morton
My home theater is also a smaller room and am using Kg3's for my mains. I love my KG3's ......and they sound great with music too! They go extremely deep and can be had for around $200. I've had them for 15 years, keep thinking of moving them and moving up but don't. I have Kg 4's also and like them better for music hooked up to my tube amp. Bob

rplace
Good advice on the KG line for a small room. Excellent advice from O, about the Quartet/Forte/Chorus...Academy is a killer speaker but gets expensive fast. Agree also to ask somewhere else if you are thinking non-Klipsch. I'll add that I picked up a set of RB-15 for a small room I have. I really like them. A tad bass shy compaired to Forte II, Khorns, even Heresy...but come on totally different speaker so not really fair. Anyway, I think RB-15s all around or some combo of 15 or 25 or 35 would be nice in the size department and not break the bank. Down the road you could use the RBs for surrounds and get RF/RC up front.
darkside
The problem w/ getting some RBs is that I am looking for main speakers to replace some old ones of mine, so I'm not in the market for some bookshelfs, not yet at least. However, I may end up with either some SF-1s, SF-2s, or KG 3.5s if possible, so I am wondering what people think of these, and If they are worth $250+ dollars. I'm liking this the best because they are Klipschs (++++++++ big plus) and they are the size/shape I am looking for. However, I would like to hear peoples' opinions on any of these speakers if they can provide input... Thanks
darkside
Just to wrap up this thread, I ended up with some RF 15s, am very pleased....
oldbuckster
Yeah, I'm really liking the idea of having some Cerwin Vegas because I've heard them to be very good, and plus I can afford them... YOU'LL BE SORRY when you end up replacing them because they can't handle any real power for very long, and they don't sound so great. A used Klipsch is better than a new Cerwin Vega anyday of the week. If money is your main point, wait untill you can get some Klipsch, it will be worth the wait. Buy your speakers once, not twice, which is what you'll do if you buy CV. I hate to say this, I'd rather own bose than Cerwins..........yuk!!!................. DrWho
wow, way to read the whole thread - lol Congrats on your speaker purchase darkside...Now tuck your wallet away and run from the forum unless you wanna catch upgradeitus. You've got lots of music bliss awaiting you.
darkside
Thanks DrWho The only problem is is that I guess I've already caught the "upgradeitus" because now I am looking for a center channel since I can't hear any of the other channels but the RF-15s, its amazing how efficient they are compared to my other speakers, though I wouldn't count PMU sats for much would I? And just to fill in some gaps that I left, the only CVs that I've heard were some old porfessional PA speakers at a local bowling alley, that's right. They actually sound very nice and are powerful as well, but I got my RFs now and am glad I have them. Oh, and by the way BOSE= Buy Other Stereo Equipment
