thebes
Some of you may have observed that I've been running a sort of Friday Night follies for quite a while now. Truth revealed I'm not always in trouble with The Twins only on Friday's (there's also Tuesday, Monday, Thursday etc.) So tonight I'm thinking what can I come up with to amuse my forum buddies over the weekend, and I'm coming up completely dry. Oh well, I think, somebody else can pull the freight this weekend. BUT WAIT JUST A MINUTE !!!! THAT'S NOT HOW AMERICA BECAME GREAT. I have an obligation, a destiny if you will, to uplift the struggling Klipsch masses to a higher plane, or at least keep them distracted. The heat was risisng from my rapdily churning brain that two of my remaining three hairs curled up, but finally Eureka! or something that at least will do. I do believe summer officially started this week, schools out, the magic season has started. There's just something about summer and music that go together and best of all is a "summer song", a hit that hits the mood that gives you a place, a time, a memory of days to come and days lost. In high school it was "Summer In The City". In my younger working dyas it was Men at Work singing "Summer Days". So what are you standing around for. Anybody up for Cheeseburger in Paradise"? Summer songs, yummie. What do you have for me?
colterphoto1
Well, when it gets too hot, people get mean. The summer was always time for me to get out my Rolling Stones collection. Street Fighting Man fits the bill. Ev'rywhere I hear the sound of marching, charging feet, boy 'Cause summer's here and the time is right for fighting in the street, boy Well then what can a poor boy do Except to sing for a rock 'n' roll band 'Cause in sleepy London town There's just no place for a street fighting man No! How about that old summertime Marvin Gaye classic revamped by Van Halen- Dancing in the Streets. Callin' out, around the world Are you ready for a brand new beat? Summer's here, and the time is right For dancin' in the street Do I win? Do I win? Do I win? Michael

thebes
I don't know Michael, It ain't all heat and conflict. Remember hanging out with the neighborhood buds at dusk when the heat starts to dissipate and something groovy is coming over the radio to complete the emrgence of the fireflys? Heading out into the evening witt a new girl, nervous sweat forming in your armpits as you go out to discover the night and hopefully charm/impress or don't make a complete fool out of yourself. Warm days near a river or lake, jumping in the water, lazing away the summer with friends easy, silly conversation punctuated by tunes comin gout of the boom box or radio.. Ain't nuthin better than summertime and music. Mark, that sounds like the perfect summertime evening,. My hat's off to you. Oldster, Blue Cheer, now that must be one of the top ten summertime songs and a personal favorite of mine.
