Half a century

Thanks everyone, just after I posted this thread, I had a

large dose of work dropped on me so I was not able to get back to the board

from work and when I got home there was a surprise party waiting for me and

this was given by my son and wife. Just a few good friends and family, it was

really nice.

I have had the "procedure" before and it is again time for it to be

done. So that will be scheduled soon. It is true that I had no choice in the

matter but it really wasn't so bad. It only hurts when I say it[;)]

It is also nice to know that I am in good company in the old farts club, those

who are there and those soon to be there, thank you for sure for the "warm

welcome[:D]

I am on the road to have surgery for weight loss. I have been battling this for

nearly the full fifty years now and while I still have pretty darn good health considering

the extra weight, I am taking steps to make my stay on this rock last a bit

longer. Now that I have decided to do it, the surgery can't come soon enough

but it looks like it will be in October or November due to the hoops I need to

go through to get approval from the insurance company. This and the company I

have worked for the last 27.5 years has announced that they will stop making

our product in about the middle of 09 if there are no more orders from the

Government, who is our main customer. So the ride ahead should be interesting

for sure![:|]

Cal, happy b'day from me too. Did mine last year ... uneventful.

Don't put off getting the colonoscopy screen if you haven't already done it. It's a peace of mind that will keep you resting comfortably for another ten ....

Chris

Oh great, I have that to look forward to in 4 years. Can't wait. Seriously though, I asked my doctor about doing one this year and he said that it is not really necessary until 50 unless someone in family has history of colon or rectal "c" (I can't even say the word), or an elevated PSA. I have been insisting on PSA screenings for at least the last 12 years so that I would have a good baseline.

So I am glad you had a happy birthday, and wish you great luck with your surgery. I have had a close friend have it done (she got it covered by having the doctor saying she needed galbladder surgery, but I think the ins. companies are on to that). It has changed her life for the better.
