khorn#1
I placed an order with Alk Engineering for a pair of es-networks for my 2004 khorns the last week of August. AL said that it would be about a month before he could get them built and shipped out to me. I've never heard any of Alks networks designs at all. I'm going strictly on what I've read on this forum as well as AL'S reputation. They will be installed in 2004 khorns with the AL-4 networks. I understand they should take these khorns to another level. I will post my impressions after I install and listen for a few days and maybe post some installation pics also. AL said that I have a two week return policy if I'm not satisfied. He assures me that these will blow the AL-4'S away so I'm trusting AL at this point and my ears after installation.I'll let everyone know how it turns out. Guest " "
I have both the es networks as well as the factory AL-4 networks. You will be amazed how your k-horns will sound with the ES networks. Do your k-horns have Ak-4 or AL-4 xovers?
Coytee
I'm starting a vicious and uncalled for rumor that Al got his formal training while working for bose. [6] []

Dflip
I heard that Al's crossovers weren't as good as the original's because he uses too many yellow caps and not enough blue ones. The blue caps emit a sweeter sound because they are a cool colour and help tame the savage beast. [] Al has always been very helpful, he just runs into the odd problem when he those he tries to assist have trouble understanding his point. [] We love you, Al. khorn#1
Speakerfritz, My mistake, I have the AK-4 networks, I believe the AL-4 networks came in the other Heritage speakers except Heresy's in 2004.
Guest " "
Dflip huh? Have you ever looked at a AL-4 or AK-4 network, nothing but yellow caps, iron core inductors, in-line resistors, there are no yellow caps on my es networks, only one iron core indcutor, and certainly no in-line resistors. what's this buisness about blue cap's.....let's see some pictures please. D-MAN
Tell Al to leave the fuze and fuse holder out! (It's as if you asked him to pull out his teeth with a pair of pliers or something!) Dana
Al Klappenberger
Dana, You should check out my "AP12" sereis networks. They are intended to be economy low networks to allow using the ES5800 high network without breaking the bank. They have no fuse and no bi-wire capability. Woofer beware! You'd like 'em! [6] Al K. homemadeheresy
Khorn#1, Would love to hear your report after up changing out your crossovers. Especially since your speakers are only a few years old. Keep us posted.
khorn#1
I will give a full report of the es-networks once I receive, install, and listen. I'm curious to hear the differences between the AK-4 and the es-networks. Im thinking it will be a no brainer, es-networks, hands down but I will have to wait and listen to judge between the two. D-MAN
I've had Al's "A"-type and various ES's, and the ES of any flavor is the definitive "hands-down" winner. DM
Dylanl
I built my crossovers with the fuse in from Al's kit. What is the difference with out the fuse. There is a debate but I would like to know the sonic differences.
D-MAN
Take a big thick piece of wire and jumper around the fuse and fuse holder, you don't even have to solder to make the determination yourself. Just use "good" speaker wire of decent diameter, 2 or 3" will be enough. Take the fuse out and replace with the wire. This will be enough for you to determine the difference.
