Big Piney
Any advantage of banana plugs other than easy connection and disconnection to a speaker or amp? From what I've heard and observed nothing but convenience. And they are that.
Mighty Favog
If you were going to move the speakers around a lot then I would say banana plugs just as to not fatigue the wire bending it around so much.
Daddy Dee
wuzzzer, you've got it. It's a convenience thing. Technically, bare wire connections are "better" and it makes sense with more contact potential. However, if the connection is already "adequate" I can't imagine that the "better" connection could be discerned in sound.
wuzzzer
Cool. I was just putzing around partsexpress.com tonight and ran across some banana plugs on clearance. I very, very rarely ever move my stuff around or do anything with the wires. Thanks all!
thebes
I've got bananna plugs sitting in a variety of drawers in my house. Used them with the more modern stuff and took them off to wire up the old Heritage stuff I've purchased. Sonically if there is a difference I've never heard it. Since I swap gear a lot, I've found the banannas to be a pain. They also have a tendency to work loose over time. I'm happier without them and sorry I spent the money.
