Hard to imagine BS without Ozzy, but then I'm just an old fuddy duddy.

---------------------------------------------------

LOS ANGELES -- The Black Sabbath boys are back, as the new band Heaven

and Hell. Guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler, drummer Bill

Ward and singer Ronnie James Dio - former members of British metal

supergroup Black Sabbath - are forming the band named after their 1980

hit, according to their publicist. They plan to launch an international

tour next year.

"The fans have been wanting to see this for years and years. Now was just the time," publicist Maureen O'Connor said Wednesday.

Since its formation in 1969, Black Sabbath has undergone numerous member changes and reunions.

Dio, who replaced original Sabbath vocalist Ozzy Osbourne as

part of the band's early '80s lineup, has been recording new songs with

Iommi in England, O'Connor said.

Bill Ward is a great guy--he's a neighbor and as gentle a soul as you will ever meet.

He got me "backstage" and in the front row for a Black Sabbath/Pantera show several years ago. I had a ball--even though this was THE worst "music" I have ever heard!!!

I hope he makes a fortune!

If they come to Alltel I'll be there. "Heaven and Hell" was one of my favorite Albums when it came out in '81 (I think). "Dehumanizer" wasn't too shabby either.

I last saw Dio here several years ago when he played Midnight Cowboy on University Avenue (or whatever it was called.) Atomic Opera (another Sam Taylor produced group like King's X/Galactic Cowboys) opened up for them and impressed the heck out of me!

I have the "Reunion" CD as well..and as much as I hate to see Ozzy replaced (I'm a tried and true ORIGINAL Sabbath fan) I can see why he would be..again. Watching the reunion tour, Ozzy isn't what he used to be..bless him. The rest of the gang certainly made it past their druggie days, and actually look rather up to the challenge.

Allan, to each their own. We all have different tastes in "music"..no doubt. But I must admit, it's cool that Bill Ward is your neighbor!!

True, but then again, as some have noted, Ozzy is done. I would rather see and hear Dio at this point than to painfully sit through Ozzy's futile attempts, as much as I love the Ozz man.

Welcome back, Sabbath.

Carl.

Heaven & Hell Dio, Iommi, Butler, Ward: Official Announcement

The

highly anticipated reunion of Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer

Butler, and Bill Ward appears to be shaping up and taking a new form.

After various promoters have approached their respective management;

the guys have started taking all of this very seriously, as they have

wanted to reunite for some time now. It looks as if the new shape may

be that of Heaven and Hell - that's the moniker that the band is likely

to use on their new venture.

If all goes well, Heaven and Hell should be hitting the road in early 2007.

The end of their email said this, so it's looking like it's official now. "But

yes, it's all official, that's the official statement from all camps.

No doubt you'll be adding it to the Butler and Ward websites pretty

soon!"

very interesting reading here. Not only were there more Black Sabbath albums released WITHOUT Ozzy than with him, there were numerous lineups with no album at all. This guy named Tony Martin was around for like 5 unheard of albums with Tony Iommi and others.

Quite honestly the most confusing bunch of rock incest I've ever read about. And you thought Yes or King Crimson went through line-up changes, they aint' nothing compared to Sabbath!

I hope they make out alright with their new lineup, but my favorite vocalist after Ozzy was Tony Martin. Black Sabbath's "Eternal Idol" is a top notch metal classic. I've collected all three of Iommi's collaborations with Glenn Hughes, and all three of Geezers (GZR). The one Bill Ward disc I heard of is one I've never listened to. And hard to find.
