darkside
Ear, I have one question, though I think I know the answer... Why don't you sell some of your subwoofers to make back a little dolla and regain space?
TheEAR
I like my subs...cannot sell....Would be a tragedy! [:'(] Damn the Sound Splinter RL-p18...each driver in its own 14cu ft box tuned to 14Hz! That is 28cu ft for two drivers, linearity in output down to around 14Hz @ 117dB before room gain! [] Before drivers reach Xmax! This will be good for 124dB @ listening position. [8-|]
Jay481985
do you realized that 14 cubic feet can be considered a refridgerator? 28 cubic feet a really big fridge
darkside
Small apartment my butt. Didn't you say it was like a 5000 sq ft apartment you had? I thought I read that somewhere. I don't understand how you have the space for this, let alone understand how your floor hasn't collapsed.
TheEAR
Woha there woha there... 5000sq ft apartment...I am not living in a top floor penthouse woth millions either. Just 140 square meters, add to this 75-80square meters in mezanine space. Big apartment but not a huge penthouse... Yes I do realise 28cu ft will be the size of my fridge! LOL not a Sunfire Micro Atom Signature ...Mini Me Edition. The cabinets alone will be around 220-260lbs each! Empty.Add the 41lbs RL-p18 and you have two ~300lbs boxes.Stacked No the floor will not collapse,I have over 4000lbs of audio gear and the floor can take a few 1000 more lbs no problem...8" concrete slab on ~24" concrete truses.Solid
darkside
Ok, but Ear, you should be happy. I moved you out of the van next to the river [], but an apartment made of concrete, which I assume is reinforced, I have never heard of. Are you in an old parking deck or something? Jay481985
darkside, have you ever been in a dorm room or any manhattan highrise? My dormroom is solid brick, hell I can jump up and down and all it would do is hurt my feet and knees Also most apartments where I live are concrete. darkside
Actually, down here in the south, most residential buildings, like low-rise apartments and homes are wood framed and set on a slab of concrete. Our house is built with 2 by 10 joists for the floors and 2x4 studs in the walls and plywood essentially. Of course, the foundation is concrete, but that's it. And having only lived in the south and never been to manhattan, I can say, no I've never been in a Manhattan high rise. The dorms here, yes, are made of concrete (actually, it's cider block down here) but not the apartments.
Jay481985
most buildings over here past 5 stories require concrete I believe. Also I bet you think a 30 story building is big []
darkside
No not, quite. We have the Bank of America Plaza, which, at 1023ft,is the 26th tallest building in the world as of right now. It's alsothe tallest building in North America outside Chi-town or NYC... Awweff, just read the Wikipedia article, if you want to. My point is, nonot quite. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bank_of_America_Plaza_(Atlanta)
Jay481985
that's pretty big. But most apartments are concrete.
darkside
OKAY Jay, I really don't think it matters that much. We live in completely different areas. Who really cares?
Jay481985
Oh, its sorta funny and humourous to me to hear that someone never heard a concrete apartment []

darkside
Hmmm, OK, fine. I'll believe you, but back ON topic, does anyone have even close to the number of subs as EAR? I know I don't. Granted, we do have a Toa KD-3 which can put out the low end, but isn't a sub, so still 9 for us.
