I sat in the listening room and auditioned Khorns, La Scalas and RF 83s. (driven with tube gear) What a treat! The folks at Klipsch are truly a team of "family folks" who provide excellent hospitality with extreme professionalism and knowledge. I really enjoyed it a lot. All the best, Joe We were out of town when you started this thread. So, in case I haven't already told you, welcome to the "Forum Family of KIlipsch". Secondly, whenever I see a "newbie" post I always try to direct your attention to the Pilgramage Section of the Forum. While there be sure to take a look at the thread called "dtels Cornwall III's". It shows the entire build process, beginning to end of the Cornwall III's Klipsch awarded dtel when his name was drawn out of the hat at the 2006 Pilgramage in Hope. We selected the veneer we wanted and Klipsch took care of the rest. How many audio companies do you know giving speakers away to their "forum members". jt1stcav Posted December 18, 2006 Share Posted December 18, 2006 Not to sound like a jerk, but since I've never had the pleasure yet of attending any of the Klipsch Pilgrimages in Hope or Indy due to work scheduling conflicts, what was the nature of your visit to the Indy home office, Joe? Do they hold daily/seasonal tours at their facility for anyone to attend, or can you show up just to audition loudspeakers you might be interested in having them custom build for you? I assume maybe you'd need an appointment beforehand and not just show up on their doorstep wanting to listen to their horns...I'm just curious is all 'cause you don't find too many businesses these days that'll cater to their customers the way Klipsch does; sorta old-school traditional values and exceptional customer service sort of things that makes Klipsch so special. (I am sure they are made in China and sounded very good.) A tube integrated and tube CD player. (at least I think the CD player was tubes, but I know for sure the integrated was......could not help but notice all the big, massive glass tubes!) Did the 60th anniv. Khorns sound ok? Well..............you already know...... I am a "beginner" of sorts and jumping right in. I don't know all the "science" a lot of posters here know and use in their descriptions of power, amps, etc. I can only say that I DEFINITELY now know how efficient horn drivers are and how UNREAL they sound in the mid-range. In a "newbie" way of describing it, when we did an A/B/A from the La Scala to the RF-83 and back----it literally sounds like you are moved from an usher in a jazz club from the 15th row to standing in front of the stage. I like jazz and took my own CD's. (Krall etc.) Those mids mean more than I had thought. (had never heard Heritage line stuff prior.) Of course, from a newbie perspective, it makes sense to consider the mids the most important since most of the sound comes from the mids. I live a mere 3 hour drive from Indy, and my broker works there as well. As you may know, most retail stores (at least here in Ohio) do NOT stock La Scalas or Khorns. I had never heard either and was darn curious. I called and set up an appointment through the sales representative who has Ohio and Indiana as his geographic area. ( ie the sale of the speakers would come from his terrritory so he was glad to help! NOT to imply they would not help if they were not going to necessarily generate a sale. These are GREAT people. In fact, I learned about the listening room from a tech at their support desk!) I would definitely recommend calling ahead and setting up an appointment. In fact, I am not sure they would or could accomodate "walk-ins" since these guys are busy doing their everyday jobs but take time out from that. I met with a great guy from engineering as well as the salesperson. It was just a great afternoon, and I learned a ton. (we seriously cranked some great tunes too!!!!) (sorry I was a marketing guy) As you know, basketball is king in Indiana. Well, Klipsch has 2 very very nice basketball courts in the rear of the employee parking lot. (located in a very nice wooded area of town) They have a full workout facility and nice looking cafeteria that I saw as well. However, the most important thing is the people. I am still not totally sure of which model I am getting, but one thing I can say for sure is that I will NEVER get another brand of speakers than Klipsch. (I had vintage Pioneer walnut cabinet style in the mid 70's, Infinity bookshelves, Klipsch bookshelves, et. al.) I am staying with Klipsch. And Dave, thanks for answering my question.[Y] Well then mine should sound really good. I just treated myself to a McIntosh MA 6300 and MCD 201 on Friday. No tone controls at all on the integrated. Of course it only has 100 watts per, but it still should drive Klipsch just fine. 2007 will be some good listening over here. Jim, Thanks for the feedback, and I am anxious as you can tell, to pair up my Klipsch with the new Mac stuff. By the way, I know exactly where Lakeland is. My best friend spend his last 10 years in Sarasota and I visited a few times each year.
