Marvel
He did have some funny bits when he was younger, but mostly vulgar and profane as he grew older. Far beyond the seven little words.
picky
RIP, George! Thanks for the laughs. He was one of our favorites when Verna and I first married 35 years ago. We saw him perform together at the then, tiny University of Nevada-Reno gymnasium and sat in the second row. We laughed so hard as did the entire audience. Dispite his vulgarity, his timing, word-play and putting things into pure literal terms was simply brilliant. Later in his career he seemed to become bitter, "angry-man"; placing more emphasis on his personal opinions and political views. Unfortunatley, many fans, including myself, found this approach to be less enjoyable. Regardless, it had been announced last week that George was to be awarded the John F. Kennedy Center's prestigious Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in November, which I whole-heartedly believe he deserved. It's sad he did not live long enough to receive it. He will be missed. - "F, S, P, C, C, M & T"
