Kain
Recently, my speakers have started buzzing quite loudly (can be heard from the listening position during quite portions of a movie). They buzz regardless if a source is playing or not. The buzzing is not related to the volume control and the buzzing is the same regardless of where the volume nob is. Previously, the buzzing was very faint and could only be heard if you put your ear right next to the speaker but now it can be heard from the listening position. I haven't changed anything so what could be the problem?
rscotth
sounds to me like a 60Hz ground loop problem. Could be a faulty cable or a component going bad or a poor ground somewhere. Just a thought, but annoying non the less and difficult to diagnose. Good luck!
darylomer12
Most likely a ground loop. I had the same problem. I unhooked my cable (cable tv) from the wall and played a movie from my DVD player and there was no humming or buzzing. I purchased a mondial antenna ground loop isolation circuit and it fixed the problem. It happened when I hooked up my Acurus 200x3 amp. I am no longer using it now so if you find out for sure it's a ground loop, I'll send it to you. Let me know....
Moderators dtel Posted September 30, 2008 Moderators Share Posted September 30, 2008 Speakers buzzing,.............. it will wear off in a few hours, but don't let them have any more ! []
lakedmb
Sounds like a ground loop issue, probably caused by your CATV cable. Try unhooking it from the wall or your cable box/TV. If it goes away then problem solved and we can recommend a few solutions.
CECAA850
My past experience with ground loop issues were more of a "hum" than a buzz. Install some cheater plugs for diagnostic purposes and you'll find out if that's it or not.

DrWho
Before purchasing a MAGIC Cable Splitter, just unplug the coax from the wall to make sure the coax is the source (which it almost always is in home environments).

IndyKlipschFan
I think Aragon or Mondial had a box that also you had maybe 4-8 plugs for all your gear that supposedly did something like this too. Daylomer12 you have a pm
mmiles
Another cause and harder to fix is that the speaker wire (if in the wall) maybe to close to your AC line. Do you have any light dimmers in your room?

Kain
Okay, I have some things to mention. Recently, the buzzing stopped in my front-right speaker while there was still buzzing in the center and front-left speakers. I didn't change anything. Now the buzzing is back in the front-right speaker after a week or two of not buzzing. I then noticed that all speakers would buzz louder when I turned on my plasma TV. As soon as I turned off the plasma, the buzzing would become quieter. What does this mean?
