synthfreek
I admit to being obsessed with this song lately. Some of myfavorite versions are by Lenny Breau(the most underrated guitaristever?), Cannonball Adderley w/ Miles & Blakey, Earl Klugh, EvaCassidy, Joe Pass & Nat King Cole.My very favorite version though isa very unorthodox version by Coldcut and remixed by Mixmaster Morrisaka Irresistible Force. HERE is a link to the track atop some visualsvia someone's homemade youtube clip. One of the best chillout tracksever but barely recognizable compared to most versions. Some versions I haven't heard but would like to: Paul Desmond, Chet Baker, Art Pepper, Bill Evans & Keith Jarrett. I'm only assuming that Sinatra sang that at some point too eh? A few that I have no idea if they ever performed it but would like to imagine if they did...Jeff Buckley, Nick Drake & Kenny Burrell. How many obvious must-hear versions am I missing? filmboydoug
That was a neat take on this song. Sinatra did record a pretty nice version. As far as vocalists go, I think that Eva Cassidy got it right. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Gy5GUYC3Ug

garymd
I've heard dozens but still go back to Miles & Cannonball. It's the one I grew up with. I can't get used to any versions with lyrics either.

I didn't even recognize the melody in the other versions! Silly me.

fini
It's funny, my Uncle Ed and Aunt Nell's dog Gazelle used to howl every time they put Roger Williams' version on the hi-fi. Right at the "falling leaves" (glissando?) part. I think that might have been her (Gazelle's) favorite. Or least favorite. I hear Django played it, too.
