  1. I use RF-5s for surrounds in our family room, and RF-3IIs for surrounds in our bedroom, they both sound great. If you have the room floor standing full range speakers are the best way to go IMO.

    the 2 towers

Yeah I can't wait, I've not seen it yet. Guess I'll rent it when it comes out, then buy the extended DTS es version in Oct. or Nov. when it comes out.

When there is a huge explosion or something it sounds like they crackle a little. Maybe the treble is up to high? I'll play around with it some. I had the treble turned all the way up. ---------------- My RF-7s have never made any crackling sounds. But I can't imagine why you would need to turn the treble up on RF-7s at all.

I let him watch spiderman and he has been watching Jurrasic Park since he was 2. So givin that, is there anything in the movie that is bad enough to keep him from watching it? ---------------- My 7 year old son watched it with my wife and I and he really liked it. It gets pretty violent in spots, so you might want to watch it first to decide for yourself. To me its worth owning just for all the heavy bass scenes. Even my wife was impressed and laughing at how bad everything was shaking in the house. If you want to blow the dust off your subs, this will do it.
  5. While the movie does'nt amount to much, it does have some demo quality LFE on it. My PB2+ got quite a workout. I don't remember what chapters they were, but there was a bar room fight scene and another fight scene that took place among a huge pipe organ in a church that rattled my whole house.
  6. Congrats on your purchase, you will enjoy them. I've got a pair of RF-35s in a bedroom setup, they're pretty nice speakers. But I do like a sub with them for movies.
  7. If you have a satellite dish or cable tv cable run through your system thats a good place to start. Unhook the cable before it goes into any equipment and see if that stops the hum.
  8. In our family room setup with RF-7s for mains, I use RF-5s for surrounds and RB-5IIs for rear surrounds. Sounds great to me.

    wow so harsh

Picked up Daredevil DVD a couple days ago. Movie did'nt amount to much, but it did sound good, got the PB2+ rumbling quite a few times.
  10. If you think your setup sounds awesome then it does sound awesome. All that matters is if it sounds good to you. Relax and enjoy. I use a Parasound Halo A 21 with my RF7s, and I really like the way they sound together.
  11. I broke a peg off a RB5II the day I bought them. I took about a half inch screw, cut the head off, put a dab of super glue on one end and threaded about half of it into grill. I put spot of glue on other end and threaded broken peg onto it. Works perfect, you can't tell it was ever broke, plus you can still take grill on and off.

Hope your enjoying your PB2+ as much as I WANT to enjoy mine. ---------------- Yeah I think Unbreakable is a great movie too. I hope you can find the time to start enjoying your PB2+ as much as I'm enjoying mine. Most of the time I've been just playing around checking out bass heavy scenes, but I always seem to get wrapped up in Unbreakable and wind up watching the whole movie. The train ride in the beginning gets everything shaking. It feels like our couch is going to derail with the train.
  13. My wife and I watched it last night on Starz in 5.1 on Dish Network. Your right the movie didn't amount to much, but it did sound good, lots of bass from the waves.
  14. I finally got my PB2 Plus just over a week ago, that is one nice sub. I replaced a CHT 15, no comparison. I was watching Unbreakable and when the music kicked in what was always one long bass note with the Velo turned out to be many short, quick bass notes with the SVS. Check out Chapter 10 of The Haunting in DTS, when the doors started knocking I dont know if it was my TV or my head that was shaking, but my vision actually blurred a little. That was at -14 below ref. and sub about 3 db hot, sitting about 8.5 ft. away. Man I love that sub. The same week I got the PB2 I also picked up a Halo A21 amp, what a fun week that was. Needless to say my wife has shortened my leash considerably
  15. Get yourself a home theater setup DVD. I use Avia Guide To Home Theater. Video Essentials I've heard is just as good, and I think Sound And Vision has one too. It makes it really easy to dial in your speakers and sub. An added bonus is you can play low freq. sweeps over and over until you find all the rattles in the house. Believe me that comes in handy when you have a SVS.
  16. If I had read your post earlier I could have given you the solution. My Dish receiver started doing the same thing about a year ago. I switched optical cables and tried a few other things and nothing worked. Finally last resort pulled card out put it back in and thats all it took. Every so often it will do it again, removing the card works every time for me. I also get a problem with audio sync on the DD channels like HBO and Showtime every month or so, removing the card works for that to.
  17. If your like me and want to run your sub 2 or 3 db hotter than your speakers, a calibration disc like Avia and a SPL meter are the way to go. Quick and easy.
  18. DVD ETC. reviewed the Denon 2900 in the July/August issue. They gave it a pretty positive review, but I think about every review I've read in there has been favorable. But at least it will give you some ideas about the product.
  19. An SPL meter is a must have for home theater. Every time I get any new equipment or if I move a speaker even an inch or two out comes the SPL meter.
  20. I have 1 pair 87 Forte's 1 pair RF7's 1 pair RF5's 1 pair RF3II's 1 pair RF35's 1 pair RB5II's 1 RC7 1 RC3
  21. Yeah really enjoyed the movie. Johnny Depp did a great job. I've always liked his movies, he usually plays real offbeat characters and adds his own style to it. I'll buy pirates when it's on DVD. It will sound even better at home.

  23. Experiment with speaker placement. RF7,s have 2 ports on the back compared to one for RF5,s so the wall will come in to play more. I have my RF7,s about 18 inches from the wall. Also experiment with toe in, they might need a little more toe in or maybe a little less. I have RF5's I use for surrounds and they sounded good the first place I set them, but I wore a path in the carpet from the sweet spot to the RF7's moving them an inch right or left, forward or back, until I had them just right. They sure sound sweet now.
