  1. The first sub I owned was a CHT-12. I think I paid around $450 or so when it first came out, so yeah I think $250 is a pretty good deal. It's a decent sub to get started in home theater in a smaller room. In fact I still have it, it's put away until my soon to be 9 year old is ready for his first setup. edit: After I thought about it I realized my sub was the earlier model CT-120. I think they are basically the same except I believe the CHT-12 has more power, so that makes it even a better deal.
  2. Yeah, I liked Waterworld too. All I ask of a movie is to entertain me for a couple hours, and it did.
  3. The Haunting in DTS, and Titan AE in DTS will get the house shaking if you have good subs.
  4. I use a Denon 3803 as a pre-pro and one of my subs I use with it is a PB2+. I get loads of bass out of it, so I have to think it's something in the way you have it set up. You definately need a SPL meter and your Avia disc to get set up right. If you want to give it a quick check to make sure your getting output from your sub set the gain on the back of the sub between a third and half way, and set crossover on sub to bypass. Go into system setup menu on your Denon, go into channel level setup, set test tone to manual, move down to test tone start and push left arrow to start test tone. A screen will come up with all your speakers and subwoofer on it. Move arrow down to SW it should be at 0 to start. You should be hearing something out of your sub.

I watched the directors cut, I didn't know that was an alternate ending. Is it worth another rent to see the theatrical release ending?
  7. You have to get a chuckle out of people who have not even seen the film swearing that it's 100% lies just because they don't like Moore or his message. I havn't seen it yet either but with that kind of reasoning and seeing how I usually enjoy Moores movies I guess I could say that it's 100% fact. But then I would not be any more credible than they are. See the movie and then come tell us what you don't agree with. I would be interested in hearing it. As far as the is it a documentary argument, I saw an interview Moore did soon after the film opened and he said it wasn't supposed to be a documentary, he said it's an op-ed piece.
  8. Audible Nectar, great post. It's good to know there are still some people out there with their eyes and minds fully open.
  9. If you can afford it and you have the room I would go with the 4 RB-75s. With my RF-7s and RC-7 I use RF-5s for surrounds and RB-5IIs for rears and it sounds excellent. I know there are not many out there, but a good DTS es discrete soundtrack really adds a lot to the movie.
  10. Anarchist, your post had me pulling out some of my old Sabbath LPs. Thats my kind of feel good music. I saw them in 71 with Ozzy singing, and in the early 80s with Dio singing. One Heaven and Hell of a band.
  11. I have been reading all the locked down threads trying to get a handle on when the thread goes bad and deserves to be shut down. To be honest I don't see it. It seems to me that everyone has been going out of their way to be civil no matter what side of the fence they are on. But the one common denominator for every shut down thread seems pretty obvious to me. If the subject starts veering to the left its time to pull the plug. I think I finally understand the rules. If the subject would not be acceptable on Fox News its not acceptable here. But thats just my opinion.
  12. This game blows. The USA choice doesn't go back that far. U.K. no. 1 was Here In My Heart by Al Martino whoever that is. Man I know there had to be music in the USA in 1953.

Hey its all cool.

    Secret Window

Yeah, it was a pretty good movie, but I had read the King story a few years ago so most of the suspense for me was gone. If I remember right the movie varied slightly from the story, but it was still pretty close.
  16. Thats a nice story. It does make you feel good when you can do something that impresses your mom and makes her feel good. Unfortunately my mother only likes Country Western music and I don't love anyone enough to play that on my system.
  17. The only music I ever listen to with the subs on are either DVD soundtracks or DVD concerts, and to my ears I can't honestly pinpoint anything that makes me lean towards one sub over the other. They both sound great to me, whether singly or together. I have a really nice stereo amp, a Halo A-21 that mates so well with my RF-7s that I never use the subs for any stereo listening. So my opinions about the subs are based mainly on movie viewing. As far as looks go theres definitely a coolness factor that goes with the PC-Ultra. I still stand by what I said before though, I won't give up either one but if I could only keep one it would be the PB2+. But thats just my opinion.
  18. I have a PB2+ and a PC Ultra and I'm sure you would be happy with either one. I used the PB2+ by itself for about 8 months, and after I got the PC Ultra I calibrated it to the same level as the PB2+ and then used it by itself for a couple weeks. I had to set the gain on the PC Ultra higher to get the same SPL as the PB2+ naturally, but I would have been perfectly satisfied with either sub. If I could only keep one sub though I would keep the PB2+. I'm glad though that I don't have to make that choice, together these 2 subs are unreal. After setting the phase and dialing down the gain on both subs to compensate for the extra 3.5 dBs I was getting, the house shaking bass was totally effortless.
  19. This will probably show my age, but to me Joe Walsh was at his best when he was in The James Gang. I saw them play in 1971 or 72 in Lansing, Mi. One of the best 3 piece bands I've ever seen.
  20. Yeah, the soundtrack was excellent. The overhead effects were great. In the beginning when they were below deck and people were running around on deck my wife and I both looked up at the ceiling. It sounded like people were running around in our attic.

    Timeline

I agree, I felt bad that I spent $1.75 to rent it.
  22. I use Cobalt cables, good cables, good price, and delivered right to my door.
  23. I have a Dish Network satellite and once every couple months or so the audio gets out of sync with the video. It only happens on the Dolby Digital channels like HBO, Showtime or Starz. If I remove the smart card and immediately put it back in it always solves the problem.
  24. Oops, sorry about the double post I think I got too excited after watching the Pistons and Wings both win tonight.
