I obviously ran the s-video cable into the back of the receiver( from the dish DVR), and a component cable from the "component monitor" plug on the receiver to the tv. The receiver specs indicate component/s-video conversion capabilities so why am I not able to make this conversion? ---------------- That's because your receiver will only to S-Video to "Composite" connversion not S-Video to "Component". Sorry The Component connections on the back (2 I believe) wll only pass the component "monitor" output.
  2. Yes I just caught the trailer. Should be interesting if your a fan of them or into heavy metal.

I also heard it was made by two Mormons who lived in that towm.
  4. Congradulations, I'm sure you will be very satisifed with the RF's. See if you can sneak them in..maybe she won't notice.
  5. I agree, I would look at the big ticket items. Forget the small stuff. I guess the bright side is that Ultimate owes Monster Cable over 6 million.
  6. I saw in the paper on Wednesday that Ultimate Electronics filed Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. From what I understand they are trying to remain open but for anyone with items being returned or being repaired I would go and get them.
  7. Just to cairify, the KV's are voiced matched to the KG's. Another KG will also be perfect. The KV's or any center speaker are designed so they can be placed in small areas above or below the TV. Also there design (sideways) so the tweeter is in the middle and the drivers are on each side as to better dispers the sound. Not that another KG will work but you may (without modification) see that it's not as balanced.
  8. I cannot completly say on eis better then the other because it's hard to compare between manufactures. However, sealed subs a cleaner then ported subs.
  9. I agree, you will need to point them down towards your seating position. You then will have to turn the gain way down so it does not over power your side surrounds. I would not fool with it unless you can get some space between your couch and back wall.

  11. ---------------- I would've thought so! I searched high & low and couldn't find it. Could it possibly be behind the grill? ---------------- It could be but very doubtful. As stated previously all Klipsch speakers I have seen are on the back in the top right. There should be one on each speaker. There it will be signed, model number, serial number and the such. If your speakers don't have one I would be very suspect on the speakers.
  12. To answer your question, No there are no online authorized Referenced Klipsch Dealers.
  13. If you have a 6.1 or 7.1 setup and play a DTS-ES DVD. Play a sceen and then tuen off the rear surround and play it again. You will hear a difference. To me (depending upon room size) 7.2 is the way to go.
  14. I use to use my KG 4.5 as my main and powered them with my Yamaha receiver for years. Now I use them as my left and right surrounds with the same receiver. Excellent speakers. My Yamaha is "rated" at 100 watts x 6.
  15. Yes Klipsch made a center channel speaker for the KG series, it's the KV. They made the KV-1, KV-2, KV-3 and KV-4. I used the KV-1 with my KG 4.5 for many years. The KV's are very good center speakers. Klipsch does not make them anymore but you can easily find them on ebay.

I agree completely. The story is not bad, but the back and forth in time got me off tract. I lost count on how may time he missed his plane to china.

Very good movie. It's the type of movie you have to stay with. The first thirty minutes is a little slow but don't turn it off. Very original and funny. It's the 80's high school sceeen. To me it's one of the sleepers of the Year.
  19. Yes you have to use the digital output on the DVD player. Didn't you ever notice that the DD or DTS light was not showing on movies. Without anything else that is the problem why your sub is not giving the output you will be. Make sure on you dvd you set the output to digital when you make the connection.

    DVD issue

Before you run out and replace the DVD or player try cleaning the player with a cleaning disk. This past weekend I had a move really starting to freeze and and break up. The I put the second movie we rented and started doing the same thing from the start. Popped in the dvd cleaner and presto works like a rented child.

One thing that confuses me. When you pause a movie it should not be showing DD or DTS on your receiver. When you pause a movie it is not receiving a signal so it will not show a DD signal. Now whether Digital coax or optical will not make a difference. I also assume you are selecting DTS in the DVD menue?

I connect mine using the LFE input.
  23. I usually shoot all my pictures at the highest resolution supported by the camera. If I need to manipulate a picture to send through the e-mail or to post on the web, I use the copy of PhotoShop that came with the camera. It is a lot easier to reduce a high-res picture, than it is to expand a low-res picture. ---------------- Exactly, what's the point in having a 5 megapixle camera and setting it to 1 meg. Shooting a picture at 5 megapixle (equal to 2 megabites) lets you zoom, crop, manipulate, etc. If you need to e-mail the picture use a program. It's easiy. Up loading 100 high-res picture with a 2.0 USB does not take that long.

What system (speakers, DVD, receiver or amp or whatever) would you build for $4k? Let's say they wanted Klipsch speakers, but were open to anything else brand wise. What would you do? To keep it easy, use the 'retail' price, and the reduction in cost for packages or internet dealers would cover the cable costs. ALSO: This system is $3,999. 00 , NOT $3,999. 99 . Any ideas? It is this exact same price at Best Buy, Good Guys, etc. ---------------- Since yor friend is looking at Bose he wants the speakers small. I would audition the Energy Take 5.2 speaker and subwoofer MSRP $900 Receiver - I would spend about $1,000 Brands I would look at would be Denon, Integra, Harmon/Kardon, Yamaha and Pioneer Elite. DVD Player - a good progressive scan spend about $150-350. Cables - Go to Rat Shack - about $250 Total - $2,500. Keep the rest as a finders fee One of the things about Bose is their price is non negotiable. All other are and with packaging them from a retailer you will get a discount. Unless your freind is wanting to throw 4 grand away take him to an audio store and show him the Klipsch Reference Speakers. It will blow the Bose away.
  25. Yes you should be able to order one driver and easily remove the damaged one slip the new one in. Was that the only damage?
